G0t my Delica4 zdp-189 back from Spyderco today

I forgot how light and compact it was and I sure did miss it! "The cutter" is back and sharp as ever and I was very excited to get it today. They did a great job on sharpening and taking the small nick out. I am really happy with it. Since I bought the delica I have bought a sharpmaker and...

Thanks for the detailed information I appreciate it. I can get it to open quickly with a flick of my wrist but I just seen a few vids of people opening them fast without wrist movement. You should be able to tell when your knife(s) are broken in. With the proper pivot screw adjustment they should op...

How do you get your Spyderco or Byrd knives to open so smoothly?

I see all those youtube videos of people opening up their Spyderco and Byrd knives so fast and slick but I just can not get mine to do that. I tried to loosen the set screw and spray some oil in there but it does not seem to open as nice as what I am seeing online. How do you guys get them to open s...

Nothing stinks worse than a smoker and everything they come in contact with. They stink worse than someone that has took a swim in raw sewage. Try the alcohol bath then spray it down with febreeze. I would toss anything that was fabric or cardboard or plastic, I would say there was no hope for those...

I bought a hawkbill just because it was cool looking. I switch back and forth each day between it and my delica. They both cut equally well and both are nice, light, thin and very sharp.

What am I doing wrong? I can't sharpen my Spyderco Delica 4 Green ZDP-189

Well as you know I bought my first Spyderco, a razor sharp arm cutting Delica zdp-189 lol. I love the knife, it is so light and thin and with the clip I do not have to worry about losing it when I have it in my pocket. Well I also recently bought a hawkbill (love it) and a sharpmaker. After some pra...

Yeah it is healing well, thanks everyone. It made for a scary day but now I will have a cool story and scar to show off lol. I did indeed have to get a tetanus shot :( so that was icing on the cake. Hopefully it will not happen again, I keep picturing what I did in my head and see how stupid it was....

How my first Spyderco, a Delica 4 Green ZDP-189 went from an $83 to$3000 knife

I bought my first spyderco, a Spyderco Delica 4 Green ZDP-189 Folding Knife from Amazon for $83 and when it arrived I was amazed at the sharpness and how nice slim and light it was. I liked the clip a lot and tried it on my pants for a few days and it just fit me well. I was having fun cutting cardb...

Is the Byrd meadowlark hawkbill and BYRD HAWKBILL FRN the same knife?

Is the Byrd meadowlark hawkbill and BYRD HAWKBILL FRN the same knife? I see them priced differently or named differently with what appears to be the same specs on different sites. I do not see the meadowlark hawkbill listed on the spyderco catalog so I assume it is the same knife?

Also, is the combination edge, spyder edge or flat ground the best for everyday general use? I was looking at the combination edge (vg-10) but I understand it is harder to sharpen the serrated edge.

I understand the zdp-189 is not available in all the adges above.
