Re: Would anyone be interested in...

I don't know about 'general' utility, but for me the 'work' utility is very much there. The way some of the cables I come across are zip tied, it would be dangerous to cut them with anything but a small hawkbill or a very thin pair of wire cutters (I'd likely cut myself or the cable). And a small h...

Re: Byrd Hawkbill

Still carrying this knife every day. It's still sharp enough to slice paper without trouble but last night I spent about 30 seconds stropping it with chromium oxide on leather. Slicing phonebook paper now. :)

Re: K390 Sharpening

I had trouble getting a really good edge on my K390 Police until I moved the edge finish up from 240 grit to 400+. It's more a referendum on my sharpening skills (or lack thereof), but moving up in finish helped me get over that difficulty and achieve a razor edge that lasted for a long time. I use ...

Re: Would anyone be interested in...

I’m not really into hawkbills. The general utility isn’t there. Hey Doc, have you ever given them a good trial? I used to think the same thing until I made myself carry the Byrd Hawkbill for awhile. I found that there isn't really anything the Hawkbill couldn't do as well or better - wood carving (...

Re: Would anyone be interested in...

Question that you need to ask yourself: How you are going to sharpen it? If your only option is sharpmaker with diamond stones, are you willing to make your time grinding away possible chips in the blade on sharpmaker? K390 is no joke, I spend some time grinding away one small chip in the blade, an...

Re: Would anyone be interested in...

Careful now....you nearly lose me with all that "PE" crazy talk ;) It would really come down to the model. I use my Spyderhawk (and Dragonhawk) a lot less than I expected and they're both SE, I can only imagine how much less I would use the same knives in PE. But, with the scarcity of haw...

...a Plain Edge, FFG Hawkbill in something like CPM M4 or K390? There's been a lot of talk about hawkbills lately. I have been carrying my Byrd almost every day since I got it in January. It's a great knife. One thing I really like about the hawkbill shape is that it pulls the material into the edge...

VG-10 or LC200N?

I honestly don't see a big difference between M390 and CPM S90V.

I enjoy testing out knives and new steels especially. I can't say I'm the most experienced one here but it would be a lot of fun to be able to write about and share my experiences!

BBB/Spyderco CPM 15V collaboration.

Probably more of a dream than a hope (for 2020 that is).

Hahaha, great pic Connor!! Yeah last night he was going back and forth between Mommy and Dad, begging one of us to blow some bubbles for him. :) my son looks on in eager anticipation. :) Thinking, come on, Sausage Fingers! Mum doesn’t need a funny looking knife or a camera. She just fish...
