Frank Brennan Karate Highlights Frank Brennan is a Shotokan Karate master from Liverpool, England, who competed in the 1970s and '80s. In his prime, he had among the best Shotokan fighting technique I've ever seen among Karate competitors. I especially love his incorporation of foot sweeps in his sp...

Re: VG10 HRC

VG-10 is a very good steel. If this was 30 years ago, it would be considered a super steel. I think it's still great. If the blade I carry for the day happens to be in VG-10, I never feel under-knifed. I don't really care what people on YouTube have to say about it. I don't watch many knife reviews ...

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2

So the coating helps with the action? I haven’t been a huge fan of coatings in the past but a warming up to them. No, quite the opposite. Apologies for not being clear on my wording. Coated blades almost always feel stiff and tighter than their non-coated counterparts. A little time and use helps t...

The CERN Connection (The Confessionals channel) I think I might have posted a video in this thread sometime back of the demonic ritual that was being performed during the opening of a tunnel in Switzerland that they discuss a bit about. Whether I posted it here or not, it was creepy. The people doin...

No One Believed in Him, But He Shocked the Whole World Another example of Never Underestimate Anyone. Never take anybody for granted. Those are amazing shots, guys.

I noticed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary over here. To the point I nearly forgot there was an eclipse.

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll

I definitely prefer tip up. Although some knives are OK tip down, if there's no other option. Like the Military 1. I switched my Police 4 LWT to tip down, because when tip up, the contact point of the clip and handle texture was very abrasive on the pocket material. Positioned for tip-down carry, th...

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness

I didn’t enjoy sharpening the s60v in my Starmate one little bit. It would be very interesting to see what effect an updated HT would have. My first Military was the CPM-440V version. I loved the design, but I never used it much, because I'd heard how much of a bear 440V was to sharpen. I've never ...

Re: Native Scout?

Whether Spyderco would ever consider making a 3.5" Native or not, the fact that there are people asking for this, that, and the other while production is backed up is actually a good predicament for Spyderco to be in. At least it shows that people (or at least knife afis) love their products, a...

Maybe knee strikes will be the next thing to be banned in UFC MMA fights. These are NOT street fights, and if you look at the rules, there is already a lot that has been banned. Back 10+ years ago when I was wracking my brain about how to decisively win street fights I download rules for fighting r...

Re: Cold Steel Talk

the pocket clips are mostly good. the compact clips on voyagers and recon 1's work very well for me. the issue is they have too much tension and no smooth patch on the scales. I remove them and sand the scales a bit with 120 grit, then put the clip back on. Then I slide a few coins under the clip a...

Re: Boating and lanyards

How about attaching it to a belt loop with paracord? Then if you drop it, or if it unintentionally becomes unclipped and slips out of the pocket, it's still attached to your person. Unless that's considered a potential hazard. The paracord doesn't need to be very long.
