Re: MAP policy change? 35%
Did you read any of the other posts in the thread about how Walmart/Amazon gain leverage by controlling a higher percentage of a manufacturer's sales and use that to force lower and lower pricing from the manufacturer and then the manufacturer is forced to compromise quality and outsource offshore ...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
5% - I am counting the big $ right now. Think I'll run down and pre-order a bright orange Lambo! Here's what I think will happen: You are going to have more dealers representing the brand, the kind of dealers who treat people right and the perceived value of the brand will go up, not down. You'll o...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
From my understanding of the replies so far.My guess of how this move will affect this symbiotic relationship... DEALERS gain the most CUSTOMERS get squeezed more, can choose not to buy. SPYDERCO risks losing sales from all but the most serious collectors. Knives at this level are already a very nic...

Thoughtful designs like any other Spydercos. Byrds are in house Sal designed knives after all. They're fine and serve their purpose well.
But life is short.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
Seelms like only brick n mortar stores can sell at whatever they want. Theres not one knife store worth its salt within 500 miles of me in California. Most knife stires try to sell anove MAP anyway.

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
I dont buy BMs and ZTs retail partly because of price and partly because I prefer Spyderco anyway. If I cant afford the increases, I have enough Spydercos to last generations. I havent broken a beater yet.

Re: What's the appeal of deep carry?
Work places, locales such as very urban areas may prefer descrete carry. Less knife protruding to scratch car paint or get caught in something. Some might prefer a cleaner look, you know the opposite of Mr Gadgetman. I personally have no preference but I do hate it when my clip hits my car paint.

I take mine off its quick release ring when I need to use it. Hook it back on the keys after.GarageBoy wrote:Hmm, I don't really do keychain knives (hate using a tool with half a lb of keys on them) so it would just go on a lanyard for me...
Maybe dragonfly/chap/urban/caly is the answer after all

Re: Back After a Few Years... Thoughts on LW Knives.
I find FRN about as disposable as polymer firearms...aka not at all. Love em!
I very rarely go outside of 'EDC uses' though. Even when I do go fishing, camping, hiking, I find FRN to be just fine.

Re: Why Not a Regular Production Caly 3?
I never really understood the Caly3.5 either. The proportions seemed off and the extra blade length felt like it disturbed the perfect balance of carry and utility that the earlier 3 arrived at. 3.5 was developed directly because of repeated requests to Sal for a 3.5 Caly. Source: Sal ;) A popular ...

For me, narrower handle and blade along with no lanyard hole would have been the ticket.

Re: I Hate Japanese Spydies, Sorry
I might be the least expert person on this forum, but I have been able to easily tell between the AUS-8 and VG-10 that I've had. I think VG-10 is much better. Of course, as others have said above, there could be more differences than just the steel, such as heat treatment, ergos, knife quality, etc...

Already the case as Sal already said.
Para2 is 3.44
Delica is 2.91
Etc etc
