Re: Choils on Spyderco Knives: Ups and Downs?
Not a necessity - but the choil works really well on slip joints like the ukpk and the urban. Gives you a touch more control of the blade during usage and closing.

Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped
Received mine. Beautiful fit and finish. Nice grind and nice lamination lines. Everything is flush. My only "complaint" is the pinned construction (which I assumed it would be). I sometimes like to sand down my g10 a bit, especially since the ergos are so good it doesn't need more grip (li...

Amazon and Eafengrow
Just saw some horrendous copies on Amazon, sold/manufactured by a company called Eafengrow. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=w_bl_hsx_s_hi_web_0?ie=UTF8&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Eafengrow There's a ukpk, battlestation, tusk PITS,double bevel, and a wanna be rubicon. Other manufacturers like...

Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped
I received Caly 3 #2 today. I didn't think it was possible but I think #2 is a little better than the first. The lam lines aren't quite as even as #1 (neither are perfect) but the G10 feels a little more grippy and the blade drops nicely when I depress the lock bar. I think #2 is going to be my use...

Re: what screwdriver to use?
T-6 for the screws on the clip.
Might I also suggest - buy a nice screwdriver - it saves you a world of frustration by not stripping any screws.

Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped
Bdubs - you are correct. I just spoke with Knifecenter. Looks like an inventory glitch on their end. When someone else cancels a pre-order, it shows as inventory for a little bit. They fill the pre-orders in the order received (as they should). I am in the back of the line  The search continues...

Thank Capt'n. Just ordered one. Not sure if that means that all of their pre-orders have been filled?!

Odd - The page just changed back to preorder. My order also changed from in-stock to preorder...

Re: Replacing FRN scales of "lightweight" designs - some dummy questions
When contacting scale makers, be sure to specify g10/liner vs frn versions. Scale replacements for the g10 models are readily available. With FRN, many of the hardware and attachment points are molded. It is possible to replace with standoffs, spacers, etc - it just takes a bit more work. I recently...

Just wondering . Can the tension in a slipjoint be modified or changed? Or is it all in the geometry of the lock face?
