Re: Give The Spyderedge A Chance Thread

A SE edge should hold no brief that is objectively better in the main than a properly sharp PE. There is a lot of speculation, hearsay and subjective claims being made. I would appreciate some objective evidence to substantiate them.

What gets me is the lack of engaging content on most of the subforums. Some are okay. I am probably boring too, but if you start a conversation over there what results are responses that make me ZZZZZZZZ.
This, exactly.

Re: The Para 3 LW: Features or “Bugs”?

The G10 Para 3 is better balanced, it's got better grip(texture) than the smoothed contours on the LW, and it feels better in my hand. Sure, some of that could be conditioning, leading to a false sense of security, false sense of strength, or false sense of quality, but does it matter? I think the ...

Re: The Para 3 LW: Features or “Bugs”?

I’m not a fan of the G10 Para 3. It’s dimensions and weight are so similar to a PM2 I’d rather have the extra blade length of the PM2. The Para 3 LW, however, is significantly lighter and has a wire clip which I prefer. Add in the better ergos with the more contoured handles and I much prefer the L...

The Para 3 LW: Features or “Bugs”?

What has the Para 3 LW got that the Para 3 doesn’t? Well, first, it is light in comparison with the “regular” Para 3. It is thinner in hand and the FRN is way more grippy than G10. The lightweight has no liners, rather just enough steel to support the same compression lock as they both have. The bla...

Re: Give The Spyderedge A Chance Thread

I don’t see it. It appears that market forces argue for most blades to be plain edge rather than serrated. It’s probably a good alternative to carry a smaller serrated blade like a hawk bill or maybe even something as large as a Delica Warrencliffe. But I think that offering redundant edges on popul...

Re: Your suggestions please

In my own personal experience I've found that Spyderco's Dodo model to be the very best short bladed folder I've ever used. Dodo. Yes. Never had one but it’s high on my list. Aftermarket prices are generally very high. I may have to wait until Spyderco does an exclusive or sprint. Quirky little kni...

Re: Your suggestions please

Having lost my Rhino during one if my big knife sell-offs, I ordered another this morning. Michael did a superlative job designing this knife. Fits my requirements for a small folder with much more to appreciate. This one is really not one you can appreciate by reviews and videos. You have to have i...

I am in the light sanding camp, if really necessary. Pivot adjust and just using it might help.

Re: Your suggestions please

I always carry Lil’ Lum in my Hitch & Timber Runt along with a flashlight and small Leatherman tool. I have a Chaparral which is still on probation. I remember how much I liked my Rhino and think now that the “trouble” I had adapting to the blade was mostly me. I plan to get another and educate...

Re: 1st Impressions Of The New SpyOpera

Does little for me. Looks kind of awkward and the small ricasso with a falling blade, spells “ouch” to me.

Re: Your suggestions please

Thanks every for your opinions. To answer a few questions, yes I like odd-ball designs. Rhino. Has the best ergonomics of any small knife I have used. I just haven’t been able to adjust to the long upswept blade. There is probably something here that I’m not understanding. Beautiful knife and I can ...

Your suggestions please

I would greatly appreciate suggestions of Spyderco folders for the following circumstances. I am an old cancer patient. When I go anywhere it would be in a wheelchair or fancy walker — this is most often to my oncologist clinic in Denver for chemo every three weeks, a 2.5 hr drive. Mostly I’m at hom...
