Re: Knives with low RC hardness

Dry uncooked spaghetti is pretty hard, but can be easily broken - it is not very tough. On the other hand, Cooked spaghetti is mushy, but is incredibly tough - it bends without breaking. Kind of a silly analogy, I know - but toughness and hardness need to be optimized for the task at hand. There is ...

Re: Good knife to carry in a bra?

Hi, My wife have used her SS Harpy VG-10 to companion her when running. Apparently, sweat is not that great for the inner of the knife (duh), the Harpy is now more or less impossible for her to operate single handed. Off course I will try to get the Harpy back to top notch action with some corrosiv...

Re: Jaylo's Amsterdam Meet 2016 Report- Notes and random musings

Tell us more about the Gauntlet please This is a real sharpening revolution- The stones are 'cats eye' shaped in section, much wider AND longer than the triangle stones of the Sharpmaker- with a 'star shaped' set of holes for a variety of angles (or so it appeared) It's hard to describe, but you pu...

Re: Show your Mule

Wow, NiallRiv! Beautiful stuff. I love that H.Rosewood burl. It is almost impossible to find these days in boards of larger size. When you do find it, the dealers want an arm and a let for it. It really makes the knife, though - the swirling grain is wonderful. I also love your contouring. Nice work...

Re: Mule team handle liners

Mike - I would encourage you to try to finish them yourself! G-10 is relatively cheap and all you need are a couple of tools to make yourself a first-class set of liners. Plus, you get to build your skills! Here is my recommendation: - Go to your local hardware store and buy yourself an inexpensive ...

Re: Value of 1st gen Glock 17?

I've still got my original Gen 1 Glock 17. Great weapon. It is now my home defense gun and loaded with appropriate rounds. I agree that these things were very common back when they were first released. On a visit to a Federal LEO armory several years back, I saw an entire tri-wll pallet filled almos...

Thanks, everyone! You guys are the best! I appreciate the good wishes! I haven't been as active around here lately. This isn't a reflection on my admiration of Spyderco or my desire to hang out with you guys. To be honest, I've been devoting most of my time outside of work/family on rekindlin...

Caly
Caly Jr.
Caly 3
Caly 3.5
UKPK
Spy DK
Urban
Sage
Chaparral

Wow. I've never seen one of those - although I've heard about them over the years. Beautiful.

Sal - were any of these dino models made in plain-edge?

Re: Calling all Urban owners, opinions needed.

I agree with Marcus. The two knives - G10 and LW/FRN - are two different knives that happen to share the same name and are basically the same size. The construction is very different on the inside. The G10 scales are just flat slabs with holes and counterbores. The FRN scales are fully molded on the...

Re: Paramilitary models - does anyone have them ALL?

Just an update with the latest CS exclusive in the middle. Very nice collection, WCC. I've not kept up the past couple of sprint/exclusives - never got the laminated S90v and haven't yet picked up the orange/black exclusive. I'm still holding out for the M4 Carbon Fiber model(s) whenever they hit t...

Re: Tell me why I need a Sebenza

You guys aren't making this easy. I've had my eyes on a Lie Nielsen bench plane for a while (a #51 Shoot Board Plane, for the woodworkers out there), and the Insingo Sebenza keeps intruding on my purchase plans. Argh.

I EDC a Mule while on Boy Scout events (campouts, hikes, etc). Sometimes, I carry a small A.G. Russell Trout and Bird blade in a necker sheath when working around the yard.

Re: FB27 Woodcraft blank

I have three or four of them - I bought them from our local Woodcraft dealer when he had them for closeout at $29 each. They are a very nice shape and are not FFG like the Mules. They have a bit of belly on them - great camping knives. I've got mine shod with micarta scales mostly - and I've given a...

Re: Wicked Edge or EdgePro??

I've had dozens of different sharpeners over the years, and currently use a WEPS. It is a fantastic sharpening system. Keep in mind that Version 2 of the WEPS will be released soon, and it will have a new style clamp which eliminates a lot of the "fiddling" that folks object to. Personally...
