Re: Knives you wanted to dislike but ended up loving
Not exactly “wanted to dislike” but I’ve done a lot of bottom fishing over the years on discontinued or clearance items that have turned into favorites in my collection: -UKPK, expected to not be a fan of the slip joint, but picked up an old saber-ground lw for cheap because of the similarities to t...

I think my absolute faves are all in-house, but collabs like the Jess Horns, PITS, Pingo, and all the Phil Wilson designs are right up there for me.

Re: Heinnie Haynes G10 S90v Urban
I never noticed it but my AEB_L Urban's tip is barely below the edge of the scales when closed. Is this something I should worry about? Mine are about the same. Not a worry unless you break the tip or sharpen it back a lot. Guess you should be able to file down the kick so it sits deeper if needed.

Re: Heinnie Haynes G10 S90v Urban
Man, that tip comparison is really eye-opening. Has the kick been adjusted to compensate so it isn’t in danger of protruding from the scales after a few sharpenings? One of the most common criticisms of the AEB-L Urban was that the tip sat too high in the scales, so I really don’t see how/why the re...

Aka: 1095CV, Carbon V
Knew I had heard of it, but had to look it up to place it and get the aliases. Like it in the one Becker I have; a BK15 that’s been thinned out quite a bit and convexed at the edge.

Re: 52100 military sprint
I’m a lefty so skipped the Millie and pm2 in 52100, then also let the Manix go by hoping a UKPK would happen, but it hasn’t… Have since been looking for a user or reasonably priced 52100 Manix to swap into cf scales from a 154/s90v second I have, but keep whiffing on them. A 52100 Chief would be awe...

Re: Why is maxamet so expensive
It is currently the only production knife you readily can buy that's at 67-70hrc at ~23% carbide volume and Spyderco is consistently making them which is quite a feat in engineering that doesn't seem to get enough praise from the community. Kudos to Spyderco for consistent excellence. This needs to...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
I dig it, especially the smaller/lighter colored one. It has a sort of "dried blood" appeal :D Also you're killing me with the Busse's. I was on their website the other day. That chopper is so BA I may need something like that in the future. My only hesitation is that I've also been wanti...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
Non-Spydie content, but this thread inspired me to try dying some scales so here they are: https://i.ibb.co/Kbf5JD1/CD42-CB07-ACDB-4-BBB-9-A9-C-FD96-AF9246-E0.jpg Used Rit Cherry Red with a few drop of Black. Both blades had different shades of Busse’s tan canvas micarta. Was a little worried about ...

Re: Should the Kiwi 4 get a Sprint?
I voted Yes because I have a Kiwi 4 and think it’s a great model, but am a little scared of the price point. It would depend on the price and the specific steel/scale combo offered for me. I didn’t jump on the standard model until it was discontinued and on sale.

Re: Heinnie Haynes G10 S90v Urban
I happen to like the SPY DK and carry one often. I like the trimmer blade. So, if they were to do something with the handle I'd be on board. I'd like to see the trim pointy blade kept. One hand opening and a tad longer would be plusses. I like the idea of trying to preserve some of the trim DK prof...

Re: Diamond rods vs Carbide rods
I believe Cliff Stamp took the deepest dive into comparing the two and generally found them to perform similarly. I haven’t reviewed the whole thread, but here it is (there are also a couple of youtube videos on his channel): http://www.cliffstamp.com/knives/forum/ ... p?10,26465

Re: Heinnie Haynes G10 S90v Urban
I like the Urban more than the UKPK just because it's more compact and way thinner behind the edge. It's still a mistery to me why Golden made spydies are so thick bte. The Urban might be a helluva pocket knife with a 2.75 inch blade and of course a slightly longer handle to accommodate that blade....

A bit at a loss for words… I learned so much from Cliff, and it went far beyond knives.
On the lighter side, I don’t know what will happen with his forum or how long it will be up, but his “B-Movie Reviews” thread is pure gold:

Re: Self loosening pivots
Only one, it was on a blue ano PITS that had no loctite whatsoever for some reason. Spyderco hooked me up with a replacement for a body screw I lost and included some blue loctite. Everything has been good to go since.
