Re: And how is your CQI Siren?

It just looks like the lockbar wasn't ground to spec on top. You could probably take care of it yourself with some sandpaper and take to cover the areas you don't want sanded. but he also said "With the open blade all is aligned nicely". So if he grinds it down, it won't be flush when ope...

Re: Where oh Where have all the high end PS blades gone?

I think it's a combination of 2 things. #1... A lot of "afficionados" that want high end knives don't have dirty jobs. Just look at the plethora of office worker YouTubers that do an entire review at a desk and might talk about cutting up Amazon boxes once or twice with their knife. A plai...

Re: Lil Native dilemma

So basically this would be a safety feature on the Shaman, due to its big blade. But is it also necessary on the Lil' Native and it puny blade ? I don't think that's what he meant. They were 2 separate sentences. The nub's safety aspect is just so your finger doesn't slip up onto the edge, not beca...

Re: Forum Knife Poll 2024 is now Live

Houston, we have a problem. I just pulled the raw data, and one respondent has managed to find a way around Survey Monkey's one-vote limit. Don't know how they did that, From my survey experience, all someone needs to do is open a survey in incognito mode in Chrome and they can re-take the survey o...

Re: Calling Larrin

I wonder if it's mostly psychological. All the effort and time some people put into sharpening convinces them that their resulting edge is sharper than it really is. Then, when they take the knife back out after awhile and they've forgotten about their blood/sweat/tears sharpening investment, it's n...

I always like this theory: Agenda-setting - Mass media doesn’t tell you what to think, but it tells you what to think about.
Oh, they absolutely do tell you what to think. They're not shy about it.

I was thinking it was an auto-correct and he meant "versatile". That would make sense for picking only one knife. But I wasn't sure.

Re: So what is the reason for no Combo edges in the salt lineup?

When I worked on a farm, which did everything from growing crops and baling straw/hay to raising upland game birds, a combo edge was easily the best edge type. You get some dirty and gritty things to cut that serrated works better for, like wads of baler twine that got wrapped around the blades/shaf...

Re: stok drop point

In that same video, he says "the sheath we make here in the US in our own facility." I figured that "in our own facility" means they are made by Spyderco themselves and not from some other US supplier. Maybe they can clarify.

Seems like these will be available soon. In the SMKW video, Eric was asked when we might see these. He said "Very soon. They're already in. We're just finalizing the sheaths."

Re: any plans for a PM2 lightweight?

Why make a Survival knife lite? They need to have mussel.🤔 What makes the PM2 a "survival knife"? And if it's a "survival knife", then surely every other g10 knife with a 3 inch blade could be called a survival knife, too. Right? But anyway, the regular PM2 will still be made. A...

Re: Bow River Modified

Confession time. Initially a Boltaron sheath was advertised to be available for the Bow River. It never materialized so I didn't purchase the Bow River. Even knowing that the optional Boltaron sheath would probably cost as much as the knife I would have purchase the combo. Kept waiting for the shea...

Re: Bow River Modified

The divot was part of the original design and I sometimes use it on other designs as well. It is used to add additional retention with a kydex sheath. The sheath would have an --opposite-- to the divot dimple that snaps into the sheath when closed. The Bow River ended up with a nice leather sheath ...

Re: Bow River Modified

Is it a dimple or foreward lanyard hole in that pic? It's hard to make out the details in the pic i saw. dimple. You can see it clearly in the 2018 video starting at 0:34. Eric calls it a "divot". I assume it would've cost too much for the price point they wanted to hit. https://youtu.be/...

Re: Price increases 2023?

Given how close many Spyderco knives are edging toward custom and semi-custom prices, slow sells could change the entire dynamic. That crazy low price on the teal S30V Delica could become more common if dealers are sitting on too much inventory. From talking with a few people somewhat close to the ...
