I saw the video and can't figure out why the man was arrested in the first place. Was it for filming? I'm not very up to date on state laws in that aspect, but as worst I was expecting the police officer to take the camera or something. Not arrest the bystander. And it's curious how the other person...

Hmm. I made it through the TSA with a large bit of metal once. I think I left a screwdriver in my pocket or something. The thing is, it didn't set off the metal detectors... And I'm not sure how those random security checks of TSA works. I'm kinda getting the message that TSA is playing R...

Probably very unlikely. I was speaking more towards your desired amount of penetration into a soft target. Actually a bullet pretty much has to overpenetrate in order to be effective. Even after it strikes the intended target, a bullet may go through the target and continue through walls. The walls...

I do recall watching Wouter's vid of Eric Glesser describing the Chaparral 3 and saying that the entire knife lock etc. is built to the highest tolerances . Is everything gonna be the same with the 2 and 3 other than the design? That pattern is ridiculous! Highest tolerances? I'm not really sure wh...

Aren't ladybug scales pinned though? Or are there screw versions as well? It looks great Jack! Just wondering, in your experience, is the material significantly weaker than G10? I'm thinking of playing with it, but not too sure on the durability.

I've always carried IWB, so I've never had this sort of problem. Not sure if it's something you'd consider trying. I'd be especially careful if the knife had a looser detent.

That sounds like a viable solution, and I hadn't thought of it. Thanks. I don't have my Manix 2 right with me at the moment, so I can't examine it to see if this would apply to that particular model; the shape of the handle might still mean that a shortened blade would come out from between the han...

I carry a preon 0 on my keychain, but that's about it. If I'm going out at night, I'll toss an ultrafire in the car, but I never carry any big light on me. Running out of space! :D Image

Well, through novice sharpening and use, I've managed to change the shape of my endura slightly. But if you do oversharpen a knife, it's possible to either file the portion where the tang meets the stop pin, so the knife can sit further down. However, that's not always possible, because if you do th...

I think it's great that you actually care what people think. These forums wouldn't work if we fight fire with fire, and it's great to see another individual who respects those he converses with.

Kydex is cheap enough that you can just make it yourself. I've done a couple of holsters for folding neck knives, and some for IWB. I'm not sure about you, but even if the detent's good, I don't want to bet that I will not accidentally do a backflip and stab myself. As a guy... carrying at 1 o'clock...

Or a 3" blade with thin titanium handles and a framelock. Completely open design. I attempted my own "ultralight" and managed to get the knife down to 1.3 oz for a 3" blade. I imagine Spyderco could do a lot better (and the spyderhole probably saves some weight too!), although I ...

I'd say go with the Manix. You seem to have smaller knives in your collection, and the Manix may provide some diversity. Assuming you want diversity. The Sage is more of a "gentlemanly" knife, while the Manix is more robust. Overall though, it's your choice and gut instinct ;)

I'm going to guess 6AL4V titanium. I've never heard of using anything else, but I do know pure titanium is much too soft for knives.

Jack, I'm not sure how M4 is heat treated, but Texas Knifemakers will only heat treat air quenchable steels. I know Peter's heat treat will do it, but I believe it's $25 for a knife, and then it gets a lot cheaper after like 70 blades in a batch or so. Also, you'll want to "finish" the kni...
