I like that clip. It looks pretty heavy duty to me! When did the switch to point up mounting points take place?
Not sure when the switch happened!

But the clip itself was adapted from the military model. That model still uses that style clip to this day.

Re: chips VS rolls An argument could be made from a durability perspective that deformation is preferable to crack formation and potential propagation. Sure, that argument could be made - but it would be slightly pedantic. We’re talking about small chips and small rolls, not huge cracks up the blad...

Re: Golden Colorado Heat Treat

I must be in the minority. I’d rather have a hard blade that holds an edge for a long time (that also chips a little on some stuff) rather than a soft blade that doesn’t hold an edge well. That soft blade is also going to roll on the same stuff that chips the hard blade. And rolls are damage just li...

Re: Y’all like rare knives? First run Paramilitary, circa 2004.

Genius. Does it hold the blade closed better than the detent? Not on my example. A nice dialed in detent ball works better. Guessing that’s why they CQI’d it to a ball. Basically every change that was made to bring us the paramilitary 2 was a positive. This is an AWESOME knife but the paramilitary ...

Re: Y’all like rare knives? First run Paramilitary, circa 2004.

This is interesting. I did not realize there was a cutout instead of a detent. Why did the move away from the cutout? Probably much easier to machine a little hole compared to a large cutout that has to be milled. Also, since there is no detent ball the contact area between the lock bar and blade i...

the price is coming down from when they were first on ebay.I guess most people that want one bad have got one. Y’all like rare knives? First run Paramilitary, circa 2004.

Hey guys. Figured I’d take some time and show my original, first run Paramilitary. Maybe Sal can chime in, but by all the research I’ve done this is one of the first Paramilitary’s to be made. It would have been made in 2004. This one was made before all of the subsequent CQI on the original paramil...

I will most likely be buying 6 of these. So I’m glad it’s not a sprint. Haha.

Two for me, one for wifey, one for each child, one for father in law. It’ll probably end up being more than 6 honestly.

Re: Manix 2 lightweight problem

Since this is a dealer exclusive, and a pinned knife, I'm thinking you ought to contact CS about it first. They may still tell you to send it to Spyderco, but at least you could ask if they held any back for replacements. Can an issue like this be fixed on a pinned knife? Does spyderco hold back a ...

I like the stuff on my Rhino and Schempp Bowie I ain't going to deny it, those are some awesome looking knives - but to me they'd be even awesomer with micarta! you'll be happy to know that none of the knives in this reveal have laminate scales. Spyderco's own page about the Canis contain the bone-...

I was lucky enough to snag 2 of these. One has a super aggressive texture on the scales. The other has the same pattern, but a much less aggressive texture. Not sure which one I prefer, but I love them both!

Re: Spyderco in use, review/feedback thread

Oooofff! Not terrible damage, but still a bit annoying on a brand new knife! Props for putting her to some hard use already, those plastic zip ties aren't the nicest to edges. Interested to see how S45VN sharpens these out. Do you have experience with S30V and/or S35VN as well? I'm sure many would ...

I’m about to go on our annual vacation in 3 weeks and I always spend about 15 days of our trip fishing for reds. I use my salt knives extensively during this time. For the past 5 years I’ve used a Pac Salt. Hoping this knife becomes available in the next couple of weeks so I can get it here in time ...

Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

I find it funny that people are excited about S45vn (which is EXTREMELY) similar to s35vn in composition, but complain about s30v. The extra % of vanadium in s30v means it’s almost certainly going to outperform both s35vn and S45vn in regards to edge retention. I really don’t understand why so many ...

Here's mine. Looks like a short tip like yours https://i.ibb.co/tZnPN5Y/20200420-121534.jpg Interesting. Thank you for chiming in! Wonder if both of ours are recent production? Maybe there was a rolling change or something. Or it’s possible there’s just variation? Not sure. Just seemed odd that I c...

Re: Did the matriarch 2 have a CQI? My edge seems so different from all the pics I’ve seen.

It looks like the serrations on yours are wider in general which could mean they take up more of the PE at the tip. I thought about that but I compared the serrations against my salt knives and when I lay them on top of each other they appear identical. The serrations seem to be exactly the same. A...

Re: Did the matriarch 2 have a CQI? My edge seems so different from all the pics I’ve seen.

Interesting...I just checked mine, and it definitely has a longer portion of plain edge at the hook than yours does. I know SpyderGirl88 recently got the same knife as you. Mine doesn't have the wave, but I don't think that would effect the hook portion of the blade. Awe man. I was hoping mine woul...
