Re: Christmas and Holiday desserts

Looks tasty, Doc!

I remember the Christmas Puddings in glass bowls and muslin cloths being steamed, literally for *days*, in an old laundry steamer in the garage.

Thank goodness for microwaves….

Re: My SE Endura wharnie project.

That’s an excellent mod! I really like the look.

The Endura Wharnie SE is an excellent knife. I was using mine a few weekends ago to cut rolls of compressed rockwool insulation and it turned an awkward task into something easy.

Re: Funniest or favorite Christmas memory

One Xmas, when all the kids were tiny, we rented a house for a get-together with friends as we still do, but on a beach. One of the Dads would always seem to go off to take a shower but miss Santa arriving to distribute presents. On this occasion, as dusk drew in, the red navigation light at the end...

Would be cool to see a new Caly3 but the UKPK has eclipsed it at this point IMO. One of the few designs that benefits from the removal of the locking mechanism.
Have you tried the Spyderedge Salt UKPK? It might work well for you.

Re: A full size Native slipjoint?

While I wouldn’t have immediate interest in a Native 5 slipjoint, I do have the Lil Native slipjoint and the smooth uninterrupted opening action feels really good. It feels a lot like the accustomed backlock model. For the Native 5, to me, a half stop would be unnecessary. :bug-white :respect I agr...

Re: Spyderco P.I.T.S. M390 Sprint Run...?

I always assumed these were Fox. Certainly doesn’t feel Lionsteel to me.

I had one of the original models, with CC number, and that one could be flicked. My m390 sprint version is much firmer but still one-handed.

https://youtu.be/CNF8WwudZFE?si=Uzl125MheTp0Gagh As a matter of interest. Interesting video, although the real question I’ve come away with from watching it is - where is that guy’s accent from? Is it Irish, is it American, is it something else?! Cliff Stamp RIP was from Newfoundland, I believe.

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

There is some argument as to whether this was legally a military battle or a targeted political assassination. I agree that some try to argue that but they are usually left leaning academics. There was nothing wrong legally or morally then or now with the decision to target the enemies command stru...

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy

With the strength of the USA in terms of industry and resources, Japan lost that war the moment they started the shooting: it was just a matter of time. One can only assume they didn’t believe America had the stomach for a protracted war. Also, the conscripts of the democratic Allies were mostly ver...
