Re: PM2 CTS-204P

I really waffled on ordering one of these, as I've spent a ton of money already on Christmas presents for others. Plus I've purchased a half dozen PM2s over the past few months. However the boss handed me a sizeable Christmas bonus yesterday....so I thought what the heck, I ordered one. Good job, n...

Re: Spyderco and Abel join forces

Cool, but pricey.
I've owned several Abel reels for decades now, and they are still my favourite. My wife got me a pair of their pliers as a gift a few years ago.

I emailed CS, and they are sending replacement screw. I did have to send them a pic to prove that I actually owned the knife lol

Re: No G10 hawkbill? No problem!

I’d suggest emailing Charlynn at customer service, she may help you with the clip screw. The diameter is bigger than Endura clip screw, as it won’t pass through the holes on the Endura clip. I still dream of Byrd without the horrible excessive white loctite. The last 6 knives I received had them. :...

Re: No G10 hawbill? No problem!

The finished product....A G10 scaled Hawbill, and a FRN Meadowlark 2 with hawbill labelled on the scales. :) http://www.fototime.com/FA6EE8E0E2BB300/medium800.jpg The G10 hawbill works great. Good strong detent, smooth opening, and no blade wobble or lock rock. I did swap not only the blades but als...

Re: No G10 hawbill? No problem!

The biggest problem I had was the clip screws on the G10 Meadowlark2. They were definitely loctited in place. Had to use a soldering iron to heat up the screws. Two of the three came out unscathed, but one had to removed with a vise grip rendering it unusable again. I don't know how much of the thre...

Re: No G10 hawbill? No problem!

Then I started to take them apart. These knives were pretty nasty on the inside...lots of grime and oil and dirt. Cleaned every little nook and cranny, then started playing with the parts to see if a blade swap would work. Here's the G10 meadowlark after cleaning and starting to put together again: ...

No G10 hawkbill? No problem!

My favourite Byrds are the disco'd Crossbill with the G10, and the smaller FRN hawkbill. However, as far as I know there was never a G10 hawkbill. I love hawkbills. I love G10. So I did a blade swap between a Meadowlark 2 G10 and the FRN Hawbill. Here are the two knives before they gave their innoce...

Nice knives. What year is that Cub Scout knife?
Thanks. It's from the mid-1970's, camillus.

Re: A knife gifted you'd never let go

My grandfather made this balisong for my father many many years ago. My father passed it to me when I was 13. I was going to pass it to one of my daughters but they show no interest, so I'll wait until I have grandkids if I live long enough. http://www.fototime.com/8AFE81CA16D2014/standard.jpg Howev...

Re: What was your first Spyderco?

Gen 1 Delica, partially serrated AUS-8 that I bought new from a knife kiosk at the local mall in 1995.
It was my first 'real knife.' The integrated FRN clip was totally revolutionary to me. Prior to the delica, I would carry a Swiss army knife in a belt pouch.

Spyderpacs and colored FRN/G10

I recently acquired a large Spyderpac. I plan on storing my knives in it, as the clear windows make identifying my collection a lot easier. However I got to thinking....how safe is the plastic/vinyl used in the Spyderpac in regards to color degradation of different colored FRN and G10 scales? I know...

Swapping Meadowlark scales

I love the meadowlark hawkbill.
It would be cool to have one in one of the newer colored scales, like the brown or blue.
If I were to get a brown Meadowlark2, would the scales swap to the hawkbill directly without making any mods to the scales?
If you have done this, I'd love to see some pics!

Re: Why was the G10 Crossbill discontinued?

Probably slow sales. sal Thanks sal, that's what I figured. Anyway it seems the stainless steel handled versions are still selling well as they are omnipresent everywhere I look. I'm just surprised that the G10 version didn't sell as well, as it seems to me that knife enthusiasts would prefer the G...

Re: Cutlery Shoppe Para 3 exclusives

Got the satin today. This is my first para 3--great little knife, and not much bigger than a Delica. It may supplant it as my small edc. It will definitely see time in the woods. Now the hunt for the orange PM2 to go with it! http://www.fototime.com/467040C78CEDEE6/standard.jpg http://www.fototime.c...

I wish the Superhawk were re-released, but with the serrated edge instead of plain edge.
