Safety tip is a mixed blessing. Great if you're trying to cut an injured person's sleeve or or pants leg from the open end. Major problem if you need to cut trough taut fabric with no entry point. Some folks have reworked it into a more normal sheepsfoot. You can also sharpen the inside of the tip,...

I don't know what the issue was with your knife, but it's possible that it's something that lots of the first run has and that Spyderco pulled the unsold inventory and are having to wait for the factory to fix the problem and mass produce a corrected version. Or it just sold out that fast and they'r...

Nice set of new toys.

I'm really really tempted by a CF Stretch at their current price at the Shoppe... already gave in on the Rock Salt. That store is NOT good for my bank account.

Looking for any excuse to test out this gorgeous knife. I went on a quick hike this afternoon to play with it and a few other new acquisitions. Worked great for all the fairly light stuff I normally use a knife for camping (Making tent stakes, fuzz sticks (Using the choil to choke up on the blade),...

Like everyone else has said, hawkbills are great for pulling cuts, especially ones where you have to reach out to do it. My SE Spyderhawk has replaced a SE Tasman as my go-to knife for clearing away blackberries, vine maple and other viney fast-growing plants from trails. The Tasman worked fine, but...

Ah, that's better. I'd hate to use that much force when it's hanging from my belt, though.

Thanks.

Edit: Not that bad, really. I'm just not used to a sheath that works this way.

Rock Salt sheath retention

I got a Rock Salt in the mail today, and while the knife itself is very nice, the sheath.... not so much. If I hold the knife by the handle, the sheath falls off. That can't be right.

Anybody else run into this problem?

Not saying the above list isn't accurate, but it might be prudent to wait for the official list from Kristi before making any hasty purchase decisions. :o Like buying a Spydie is ever a bad decision? I hope the Barong being discontinued is only a rumor. That's too good of a knife to only get 1 year..

I try to spend my time with people who also carry a knife -- even if it is just the blade on a multitool. This leads to 'Ooo, shiny!' reactions, even though they do think I'm a bit odd for owning so many different ones instead of a single do-everything knife.

The clip blade on a medium stockman is great for cutting wedges... or entirely in half, depending on the size of the apple.

your talking about the h1 spyderhawk salt right? thats the only one i got that is the only spyderhawk right or is there others? The original Spyderhawk has a VG-10 blade and black FRN handle, and dates from 2003. I think it was only produced for that one year and discontinued due to poor sales... t...

Lava! (Discontinued a year or so ago, but still available at some places.)

Tank of a knife with an oversized handle that lends itself to a very secure, comfortable grip.

My first beer was in college... um... probably a Rolling Rock, as they were wildly popular at my school. I preferred cider and alcopops, not to mention harder stuff. It took years before my tastes changed enough to like (quality) beer. I still like hard cider, but I can't stomach stuff like Mike's a...

The steel, 5Cr15MoV, HRC 55-57, leaves a little to be desired, but it would do well to remember this isn't a truly expensive knife. I'd like CRKT knives a lot more if they jacked the price up $5-$10 or so to go with better steels. The 8Cr13MoV that Spyderco uses would be dandy... no need for a supe...
