Another Torx screw problem

It used to be simple to reverse a clip on a Spyderco. I tried to do it this evening and gave up. A #6 Torx is too small and a #7 is too large. The #8 fits the pivot OK and the #6 fits the scale screws OK. The #6 ruined the screw head on the clip screws. Do the clip screws on a Junior take a special ...

Thanks Ed:

I understand your explanation perfectly
since I watched the knife lock up repeatedly.
First time that I had a really close look at
how a frame lock operates. Anyway, I like the knife a
lot and strangely enough watched a
You tube video of you demonstrating the
knife last night.

You can't wear one out. I carried a gray
one for several years and they just keep
on working like the Energizer bunny.

Thanks Kyle:

Sounds like it isn't out out of the
ordinary. Would still like to have top
and bottom jimping on this knife as the
Lava has.

SS Balance quirk?

Got mine today and like it a lot. Almost like a piece of jewelry being so small and well finished but a functional piece of cutlery. Unless you flick it open quickly you get a false lock-up as the first click is when the ball detent clears the tang. To get the second click and full lock-up means mov...

Billy:

Botach used to have a bad rep and I didn't
trust dealing with them. This time everything
was professional with great follow up emails
and free shipping. Something has changed
there.

Searching for that ONE knife

I have gone back 20 pages or more on Google to find an Adventura. I found one at a boutique shop in Arizona for $85. I found a Phoenix from an eBay seller who specializes in handbags. My latest find was a couple of Calypso Jr.'s from Botach Tactical for $60 each NIB. They also list Navigator 2 's at...

The elusive hunt

Whether it involves going back through 20 pages on Google to find a storefront with a long discontinued Spyderco or going down to the wire on eBay, the hunt is part of the mystique. When you just have to have that one certain knife sanity goes out the window. I have scored an Adventura from some bou...

Love my Lava. Waited until the last moment
and got one. Tried to get another and
was too late. A great knife. You just have
to get one into your hands to appreciate
it. You can't own them all but this is one
of my favorites.

Can you believe Arnos? Probably named after a high school flame. I used to do chores to get my mom to call me in from play using Jerry. I had better get off this subject before I get bounced from the forum. Now back to that great forum knife. The purple scales have grown on me. I really like this kn...

2009 Purple Forum Native

I was fortunate enough to get one of these when they came out. At the time I didn't care for the Native because of the blade shape and I can't remember looking closely at the knife when I got it, I just put it into my gunsafe and forgot about it. I'm looking at it in a different light now. Aside fro...

Maddox tool came today. 440 steel/G10
handles. Just cut a load of veggies. Works
better than a kitchen knife. I should have
gotten a Spyderco version back in the
day but wasn't cooking then.

As I have said before I have all 9 variations NIB except SS PE which was re-edged and refurbished by Spyderco. I just got 2 NIB new old stock C52SBK Calypso Jr.'s in the mail from Botach Tactical. Mfr. dates 2001. $60 each. I may have gotten the last two........ They also list SE navigator 2's for $...

Donut wrote:I don't think there was ever a G-10 SE, did you blade swap it?

Actually it is FRN. I did grind the original FRN clip
off and installed an SS Calypso Jr. Clip on
the opposite scale to match my carry
preference.

I have 2 that I alternately carry, a SS PE and a G10 SE.
Lately the SE sees the most use. Great little knives.

Thoughts on the SS Balance

I like small knives. I like collaborations. I like frame locks. I like Ed Shempp designs. I like glitzy roll marks on guns and knives. I have a Balance enroute. Does anyone have any opinions on this knife good or bad? I know that It is probably overpriced and a Dragonfly will probably do just as wel...
