Probably one the most expensive pruning knives in the field (or am I the only one in the entire forum that put Myrtle to this task?!) Shame it's getting discontinued...

Re: Are there two hand opening locking knives by Spyderco?

Just a note that I think there is also an 8cm blade length limitation in Germany, independent of the opening mechanism. 8cm?! Doesn't that make Boker Anso 67 (3.5", or 8.4cm) illegal even if it is nail nick/two-handed opening? I can only hope that not every police officer carries a ruler of an...

Re: Fake Red Persian

I hope that this guy is just a crook and there is no such thing like fake Persian. There isn't. Only spammers stealing pictures of actual Spydercos and trying to sell who knows whatever they have in possession. Probably just frauds. Have been happening multiple times recently on the bay, fake price...

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

Opinel or Victorinox, maybe also sodbuster or canoe models, seem to signal to people "I have to get this from the bottom of my pocket (no clip), unfold the knife with a bit of force using two hands (no flicking, flipping or buttons) and then carefully close it again with some force (not easily...

Re: Spyderco Slysz Bowie real?

And so does my new sage 2. I'm hooked. Guess it's time to start perusing other sections of the forum! I think the obvious conclusion is that Taichung folders have this unique and awesome unique etching. At least with the titanium folders.... Essentially this trait is shared by all modern Taichung S...

Re: Spyderco "Clip It" definition question

For slip joints, "Slip-it". More Spyderco products on the way following the similar nomenclature: For fixed blades, "G-clip-it". For balisongs, "Flip-it". For multifunction knives with screwdrivers, "Philip-it". For fire starters or lighters, "Lit-it"...

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

And another reason for Opinels being so widely acceptable is the nature of how you have to manually twist the bolster out of its original angle that you can freely open and close the blade in order to "lock" it. Otherwise it's just a traditional slip-joint.

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

One of my favorite topics (I am being sarcastic) is how they extended this logic to multitools. Word in the knife community is that a multitool which contains a blade is a different entity and therefore cannot be treated as a knife by the police or judges. This is unfortunately an urban myth. The p...

Re: Spyderco 2017 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

is there finally jimping on the Stretch? I mean the handle. Only thing I hate about Spydercos, and which is partly why I like the Native and Manix so much, is the lack of jimping. Need more jimping. I don't see any in the video. And I don't think there's need for any, with the already perfect ergo ...

Re: Spyderco 2017 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Is the new stretch 2 frn linerless? No, it still has steel liners. First evidence is the blade length/weight ratio, 3.45" to 3.7 oz, that looks very comparable to Endura 4's 3.75" to 3.6 oz, which has nested steel liners. Plus Stretch does have a wider blade, which makes sense for a tiny ...

What makes this seller think he can sell counterfeits at the price of a real and still get away with that?
"Sold listings".

Try block "Baidu [Spider]" if you are able to? I personally consider (with my knowledge about Baidu) it might be an important source of these spams.

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

Yes, exactly! Just doodled some concept scratch on a piece of paper. Not sure if anyone can read it tho... http://i.imgur.com/NcbUt8h.jpg The idea here is mainly using a ball-bolt composite to replace conventional pivot pin of a back-lock's lock bar, and the lock is thus convertible from mid lock t...

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

That makes sense, but what about adapting a "manual lock" to current production Spydercos like the Delica? If I get you right, are you suggesting adding a sort of "safety slide/bolt" to switch the knife between a slip joint/notch joint and backlock? That would be a very interest...

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

Would something like the Janisong be legal in Germany? I have a very superficial understanding of German knife laws thanks to that guy who builds insane slingshots on Youtube. I forget his name, but he did a good video summarizing German weapon laws, including those pertaining to knives. My big tak...

Re: Thoughts on locking models as Slipit versions

I haven't been able to find a side by side pic, but the Cat should be pretty darn close to an Urban with a lock. I would likely have one except I'm a lefty so I try to avoid righty liner locks. (Can deal with them, but prefer not to.) A little more on topic, I would have a tough time passing on a n...
