Re: Sold Out Dates for Mules?
This is an interesting in that it provides a little insight into what flavors of steel are most appealing to the most folks. One of the more intriguing Mules to come along in a while was the T15 model, but it's still available. Either Spyderco cranked out a bazillion of these, or my tastes differ dr...

for those who love serrations, do you find the biggest benefits are on the small knives or the big knives? If you carried one small knife iwb and a larger knife in the pocket which one would be serrated and which one would be plain edge? Easy. The bigger blade should be serrated. To me, the serrate...

Right? Perhaps I imagined it or I'm getting confused, but I seem to recall Larrin saying in the video that there were characteristics more significant than the type of steel when determining the performance of a blade.

Re: Favorite Strop
Fascinating! I have seen Michael Cristy on YoutTube talk about Balsa Strops, is that roughly the same idea??? I can't really say what Christy has in mind. My thoughts are that a harder material is less likely to deform under pressure from the blade, and will have less of a tendency to round the edg...

This one. It's not my favorite knife, but it's the one that's in my pocket when I go on big adventures. It's expendable, but always manages to do its job and come home safely. It's been a lot of places.

pushed the backlock to close, the blade came down 2/3 of the way onto my finger and cut it Don't feel bad. You're not the only one. I had a couple Spyderco backlocks and never had a problem. Then I got my first Police, and within the first two minutes after taking it out of the box, I nicked my fin...

Re: Adjusting Boltaron
Would applying heat carefully to the area be the solution Yes. A heat gun will work. I can't remember if I've used a hair dryer. Just be watchful so that you don't get it so hot that the plastic bubbles on the surface. Heat it up, stick the knife in, pull it out. After the sheath cools off a bit, t...

but don’t want something cheap either. High quality , upper/mid tier price. Sorry man, I can't help. Despite having a variety of expensive materials and strops, my favorite is a piece of "stir-stick" that you get for free from the paint store. I suppose if you bought a few gallons of pain...

Re: Manix 2 more popular than Paramilitary 2?
Buck knives are more popular than Spyderco. Hyundai automobiles are more popular than McLaren. McDonalds is more popular than the French Laundry. Is the M2 more popular than the PM2? Ahdunno. They're both pretty cool. I'd give up my PM2's before I'd give up my M2's, but only the crack analysts on th...

From what I know, putting knives in the dishwasher has always been a no no, as it apparently dulls the edge. Sounds like an old wives tale to me, but my wife insists it's true. What happens on The Forum stays on The Forum. You can rest assured that we will NEVER tell your wife that you called her &...

It's been that way for a few days. I just figured they're updating the web page and still ironing out the wrinkles. Maybe... just maybe... they're moving everything over to a new server that can accommodate future sales and Sprint drops. You think that maybe that giant construction project will be ...

Re: 2024 Official Discontinued List
It's cool that Spyderco lets us know which items will be discontinued, so we can get what we want in case we've been indecisive. If we don't get what we want, it's our own fault. I noticed several K390 models being retired. K390 is my favorite steel, so I hope that they're going to move that steel i...

Just received the kindergarten reading list for my boy entering the public education system Thursday. I ain’t reading nothin’ — he’s reading to me. Re: Warranties, Forum Etiquette, and a Thank You
Hello from Castle Rock! Loving all this rain but the near daily hail is getting old. Let me begin with the thank you. A few weeks ago, my nephew gave me a P3 LW SPY27 for my 49th birthday. Happy belated birthday and welcome to the Spydie club. Good thing your knife is SPY27, because it's going to d...

Re: Polished vs toothy edge for storing sharpness
What is your experience? Are toothy edges left in solitary confinement more aggressive than mirror edges? More data is needed. During the previous discussion, I made a Better Than BESS Sharpness Tester. I sharpened a Maxamet blade as sharp as I possibly could, tested the edge, and put the knife awa...
