It'd probably be an interesting knife, if it didn't have the Spyderco brand on it. We've seen companies like Sanrenmu and Enlan make some interesting knives under their own branding, so Chinese companies can do it when they choose to. Making clones of other people's products is something that's happ...

Since I've handled Chinese framelocks advertised as titanium, yes they do make titanium framelocks. Strong, light, non-magnetic. It's either titanium, or really well heat treated aluminium alloy, and it'd probably be cheaper to make them out of titanium. As of 2011 China was the largest producer of ...

I'm sure Spyderco are excellent, but it's a simple enough matter to learn to sharpen your own knives and you won't have a 2-4 week waiting period.

Because someone had to do it. Best form of self defense? Don't be there. Second? Run. Third? Have a pistol, legal or not, and practice, practice, practice putting a bullet into a man sized target as fast as possible. Remember there is no "shoot to wound". And seriously, I don't rate my cha...

I think the issue is not so much as "what is it worth?" but "what is it worth to you?" If it is worth less to you than another knife then sell it. If not, keep it. As for what to sell it for, a new Native with S30V and FRN is about $70-80 on eBay. I wouldn't expect any more than ...

is that something like a delayed april fools thing? these millies look so real, that i'm not sure anymore, if mine is an original! also very interesting, is, what steel they really use, because, it obviously can't be S30V. No real way to know, unless there's a method of determining the metal ...

I know the feeling. I pulled my toolbag out of the trunk to do some work on my Mom's car yesterday and found that there had been some water ingress and many of my tools had developed the red cancer.

Botheration.

I would agree. Although copying the shape is annoying, at least when another manufacturer copies the shape and uses their own labels you know what you're getting. Love them or hate them, at least Navy abides by that rule and for some they're a gateway drug into real Spydercos. Copying the shape, and...

Why do people do this? The Native is not an expensive knife, I've seen them selling about $70, and one will probably be my next Spyderco. Why make a copy of an inexpensive knife and then sell them with Spyderco labels?

Very hard to get to a gun show in New Zealand. :)

Well it says "replica" so I'd say so. It doesn't appear to have a compression lock™. I did a quick eBay check, and found a Para 2 for $167, so why buy a replica? Of course the $99 shipping to New Zealand was a bit eye watering. Since most people I buy from charge $8-$12 that's a trifle rich.

My question is this: If the point is they're making knock-offs, lying about their product, from whence comes the assumption that they are using a cutlery steel at all, and not just some mild steel? I've handled counterfeits, not of Spydercos but of other brands. They don't use mild steel, they do u...

9Cr13MoV is stamped / engraved on the tang of the blade, yes, but the cutting edge retention is pretty short, so there is a great probability that the steel that is used is not what it is claimed to be, or if it really is 9Cr13MoV steel, its heat treatment is poorly done. The chinese 9Cr18Mov steel...

I buy from sellers who ship to New Zealand on eBay, generally White Mountain Knives and Eric somebodyorother. When I bought my Endura I noticed that the Delica was a whopping $1 cheaper. $1 gets me an extra inch? Who would say no to that? Still plan to get a Cold Steel at some point though, maybe so...

Well I only have a Endura 4 at the moment, although I have a Cara Cara 2 in the mail for comparison purposes, and then I suppose I'll look at a Native in S30V, after that who knows? A Military perhaps, although that just seems like a slightly larger Endura.

It would be more palatable if they left it sterile. Building a replica might still be annoying, but without markings at least no one could confuse them with the original. To be honest I'd rather see sterile replicas than the bunch of completely non-Spyderco knives being called Spydercos. Most of the...

If they get any better it might be worth offering them a contract to produce knives legitimately.

I don't think that S30V is easily available in China. It's probably something like 9Cr18MoV.
