My Son Martin his wife Ann, and my wife Sylvia will be there. It has been a family event for us for over 25 years. I highly recommend the show, area, and especially the people.

Re: Spyderco Khukri

This design had 5-6 prototypes where the design continually got smaller the flair at the butt of the handle was removed, the handle mid ridge was removed and the blade got shorter and the tip came up. This knife is very compact has a fairly large Spyderco hole and has good ergonomics for opening let...

Re: Knife Robot - paging Ed Schempp

The machine has a camera and a video screen for a close up photo of the edge, you can see the burr.

I sharpen edge down except the tip which is edge up right under a wheel. This prevents the tip from rounding off.

Re: Snakes: Your encounters with them and your opinions?

When I was an exchange student in Philippines, island of Mindinao I got up one morning and noticed a small brown snake wrapped around the leg of the dining room table. I pinned its head with a pencil captured the snake and put it into a jar. I showed my peace corp friend and we went to library to id...

Re: Knife Robot - paging Ed Schempp

I was contacted about consulting on this machine. I let the inventor know that I would help but would only tell the truth. I spent a half a day seeing the machine work. The original setting was too large of inclusive angle, the machine was reprogrammed to yield a less than 40 degree inclusive sharpe...

Re: EuroEdge and Sustain have dropped (Pics)

The Euroedge is a design inspired by the opportunity to handle fullered pieces at the Royal British Armories. Fullers don't strengthen a blade they stiffen the blade. Fullers reduce weight therefore can increase the speed of use. In forged pieces, fullers reduce the amount of high Carbon steel neede...

Re: Prediction for the Efficient

It was a pleasure to work with Eric on this design. Spyderco has a formula that it applies to the costs of inputs to determine the price. Where ever Spyderco takes this design, like scales or steel will be subject to their pricing formula. It will be a good value. Remember Spyderco brought ZDP189 to...

You have to trust the channels that they have developed, everyone is first string, top notch experienced players in the knife in...

Re: Is H1 work hardening a myth?

Disclaimer: I'm not a metallurgist, but here is a layman perspective of what is happening. I have experimented with nitriding and the forging of Nitrided materials. This is how I perceive the metal and work hardening of Nitrogen steels. Nitrogen will work as a replacement for Carbon in Martinsite fo...

Thanks for all the feedback, it is all good. I appreciate all thoughtful comments. My designs don't appeal to all customers. I have and do carry my designs, that I use a lot. When I learn something I try to invest my experience in what ever I'm developing. It is hard to evaluate my designs from a pi...

My family will be there. I'm at T10 and Martin will be at T11. Spyderco usually has a table and sells some seconds an other knives to club members Friday. They usually show prototypes Saturday. I'm in my 25th year at the show and there has always been something from Spyderco in my show envelope for ...
