Re: Karambits: Your opinions?

My Dear Friends, I carry a karambit every single day. Yes, there are some things it won't do as well as a straight blade, in the same way that there are things a straight blade will not do as well as a curved blade or hawkbill. They are no more complicated to resharpen than a traditional hawkbill. Y...

My Very Dear Friends, Yes, I am still above-ground and vertical. I admit that I was highly amused to see my birthday fall on National Knife Day. Fitting, I suppose. Spyderco was my introduction to knives of real quality - my first Spyderco was, as might be expected, a stainless Harpy SE. I still hav...

My Dear Friends, Sincere appreciation for the birthday wishes! I admit that I don't post much these days - work keeps me from the various fora to a great extent. That said, I do check in here from time to time and try as best I can to keep up with the goings-on. I still carry Spyderco knives as my p...

My Dear Friends, 27 years on electric bass playing both live and in the studio as a session musician. I also enjoy playing acoustic bass, guitar and a couple of other instruments poorly. Of late I have been given the moniker "bass wh*re" by the other local guys, since I tend to be an avail...

My Dear Ssifu, Now I got me thinking....Why not an Ed Schempp Design hardworking/ good steel Kiridashi in the Spyderco Line up...It fits the ethnic series spyderco knives and they make great tools and have the sharpest edges. Could even have Sal's necklace with the three holes right smack down the m...

Thoughts...

My Dear Friends, Methinks the reasons for not offering "customizations" such as changing edge types/blade geometries, etc. are many and varied, as might be surmised from previous posts in this thread. Among them things such as damaging a privately-owned now-out-of-production blade. Additio...

My Dear Ssifu,

That Draven kiri is just stunning - I really need to dig another kiri up for EDC soon.

Beautifully written article, my friend!

My Dear Friends, This past weekend's time change has screwed me up completely. In fairness, it might have a bit to do with the raging sinus infection I am currently battling, but I have felt unusually out of sorts since the change. I don't much mind the change, as it gives me the additional hour of ...

My Dear Friends, IMO, best fixed blades on the planet. I have to agree - ESEE fixed blades are tough as nails and will stand up to anything you throw at them. I have owned several over the years and if I ever lost my Craig Wheatley Beast I would replace it with an ESEE RC-4 immediately. I keep an Iz...

Yep...

My Dear Friends, Mora Knives are a well-kept secret. I have kept one on hand for years now. Get a carbon steel version, force a patina on the blade with vinegar or mustard, clean and oil the blade, touch it up on a fine stone and it will be good for years. They're cheap enough to have one in every b...

My Dear Friends, I have done the remailing thing for many friends on knife forums having these same issues, most recently a guy from Australia that had a Surefire Gift Certificate (they don't ship to Australia). Anyone needing a remail just shoot me a PM or email and we'll work out the details. Fair...

My Dear Ssifu,

Those are incredible knives. The larger design is probably the most perfect execution of a fixed-blade pikal that I have ever seen. :D

My Dear Friends, My second follow-up appointment was this past Friday. My Dear Young Friend, There has been quite a volume of sage advice dispensed here thus far. I'll add one thing that I have found more and more important as I get older: the concept that "happiness is the death of desire." I'm not advocating laziness; having the drive and tenacity to work, ...

Good News...

My Dear Friends, Just returned from the doctor. Healing is accelerated well beyond his expectations. Original estimates of an extended healing time have been adjusted - 6 weeks total from surgery to normal use. Bandages removed today, sling only at nighttime, gravity-assisted stretching only for now...
