Re: Cowboy knives
I had always heard Stockman and each blade was dedicated. Spey blade was for castration only, Wharncliffe was the EDC blade, thus why it sat the highest up. And lastly the clip point was for eating and kept clean(er). Who knows how much of that is true?

Wonder why brown D4/E4 are leaving? It was not my favorite but way better than purple.

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
Anyways the VG10 version is both cheaper and better suited for the role. I'd take the extra toughness and corrosion resistance on a knife I expect to carry often in the outdoors, likely exposing it to rain, sweat etc. Also doing little to no cutting with it, but knowing that any cutting I did would...

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
I read about an incident where a man was walking on the street near the opening of an alley, when another man at the end of the dead-end alley pulled out a knife and started approaching him. The first man pulled out his revolver and warned the other guy to stop. The knife man didn't stop. In fact, ...

Re: Looking for a Self Defense Knife?
When it comes to purely self defense, the full SE is the way to go. I dont think a lot of people here realize how much damage SE can do. Its massive. I think I'd honestly rather face someone with a gun than a full SE blade that knows how to handle a knife. Its just nasty, nasty, nasty. Good point☝️...

Re: Go Get Your Anchor! True Beer Stories
Maybe if Anchor had innovated, instead of resting on their laurels, they’d still be going strong? You’ve got to be crazy to run a brewery in California these days without making a really good hazy ipa. That and the juicy IPA’s. I am not an IPA afi but living in Alabama we have Straight To Ale Brewi...

Re: Civilian vs Delica/Police
I would rather get a Yojimbo 2 and a trainer for it than a civilian. There's multiple reasons but the lack of a trainer knife and inability to thrust seem most weighty. And now I'm gonna be that guy-- get some training or it will do all of nothing to protect you. Echo this except Delica FFG. Get a ...

Re: Canis question.
Photo required. Couldn't remember what a Canis looked like. Cool knife, but I think it completely defeats my Hapstone guided system. I am curious whether the pointed tip of the forward scales could be sanded into a curve to allow access. Exactly what I was thinking but, I try to avoid knife or gun ...

Re: Your running knife?
I often run with a tight Fanny pack around my waist holding my phone and an 8” leather sap. I would rather smack the crap out of a dog than gut one. I also carry pepper spray when I have my dog with me, which isn’t often. I would offer a telescopic baton for those who can’t have a sap due to legalit...

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!
Those who have one inbound but haven’t handled the model before, it has a weird blade to handle ratio that bothered me when the OD green came out but doesn’t bother me at all now. I actually appreciate the handle as a user now and have let many of my OCD tendencies go, choosing to appreciate models ...

Glock 42 checking in here. Def lose capacity vs LCP Max but the spare mag is so small I carry it always too. I live in Alabama and have carried pocket and IWB against sweaty skin for hours and zero rust.

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread
I have mentioned before one of my sons wrestling, in fact he’s been year round (high school and club) going on 4 years. His brother has decided to try BJJ and in taking him I have been able to watch the judo class that coincides with the beginner BJJ. I did judo 19 years or so ago and there is no wa...

Re: I had enough of Seki ''hiccups''
The latest Ladybug Hawkbill I received (online only because my local shop has none) was hands down the worst of the previous 3 I have owned. The tip is a bit wonky and the serrations aren’t near as “new” feeling as others. That said, it’s my ocean/pool knife so I am letting it go. Probably hit the s...

Re: Atlanta Blade Show
The Spyderco booth was super busy all weekend as usual. Talking with Michael Janich at the prototype booth was a huge highlight for me. The Microjimbo is an amazing folder. The handle is not micro, fits very well into the hand. The blade is just scaled down, but perfect for those preferring the sma...
