Re: Byrd Hawkbill, Replacement Scales? Deep-Carry Clip?

Oloung, thanks for all the helpful info. The swap went well, although there's a bit of play at the tip (when closed). It seems like I can't quite get the pivot screw tight enough (and I did manage to strip it... I don't imagine those are replaceable?). In any case, it's good enough to use and it lo...

Though I am a bit nerdy and have a notebook of all my knives I've reprofiled to what degree and grit finish :grimace
This is actually brilliant and wish I had thought of this myself. There are a few knives I haven't touched in a while and my memory with older age isn't helping me :'(

Re: Byrd Hawkbill, Replacement Scales? Deep-Carry Clip?

I just tried installing a stock delica spoon clip on my meadowlark and the meadowlark clip screw thickness are a little larger than the stock delica clip screw, no go without enlarging the delica screw holes for meadowlark scales. So, most delica clips should fit, you just need to bore out the clip ...

Re: Recommend a Sharpener to Gift

For units in that price range, it's honestly very tough to beat the WorkSharp Precision Adjust sharpener ($50) I don't even take my standard Sharpmaker out for use anymore. How good is it for reprofiling? I also have the WS Precision Adjust and the Sharpmaker + CBN rods. For reprofiling folders, I ...

Re: Byrd Hawkbill, Replacement Scales? Deep-Carry Clip?

I have a Meadowlark but haven't put an aftermarket clip on yet. I have added the generic Delica $10-12 ebay style deep carry clips on my Cara Cara 2s and Robin with ok results. I would think the C11 type clips should fit the Hawkbill too. But the fit and finish on the generic TI c11 clips are really...

Nice! I see you have some knives in your Delica collection :rofl

Re: Can we talk about Amazon?

The thing about swapping and returning is a myth as well. Your return doesn't go back to an Amazon distribution warehouse and back in line to go to the next customer. This is absolutely 100% false, I have personally received 2 Amazon returns. One clearly with the "Amazon Returns" shipping...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Some of Dack's shipments come from the distributor, some from their facility. There can be delays, so patience is advised. I've done 3 orders, two were slow but otherwise good. The third was canceled due to lack of product, though I suspect a pricing error from the distributor was the real cause. I...

Re: Self loosening pivots

I think my preference has settled on vibra-tite vc-3 on pivots and loctite blue on rest of body and clip screws. I just like to be able to make micro adjustments with the vc3.

Re: What is wrong with Spyderco customer service?

Lastly, I felt upset because as a loyal customer I have felt ignored. Not the first time but the second time in a row! And yes, I thought I deserved a response whether fast or a slow one. I still did not get a response from Spyderco and I do not think I will get any time in the future. My intention...

Re: Why doesn't Spyderco use D2 in their Seki models?

Regular D2 is inexpensive because its NOT a CPM steal. However I wasn't talking about CPM D2. The point was why ask for the ingot version in a non-budget line, when there already is a budget line? Value proposition of ingot D2 in Seki just isn't there for the consumer. I would think about paying a ...

Thats what I mean. Vg10 is a still more user friendly therefore it would be better as a base line. But I still think they could offer a D2 version.
For a CPM sprint or exclusive, would you still prefer D2 over Cru-wear? Seki line is no longer the budget/base.

Re: Is it time for an E5/D5?

There's a big difference in the blade shape of the Delica/Endura vs. Calypso. For me, blade shape is at least as important as handle shape. I actually like the Delica handle profile, so I wouldn't want to see that get radically changed. And I don't care about deep carry and/or wire clips. If some f...
