Re: Pochi anticipation thread
I’ve read that carrying ANY locking folder is illegal in Japan, regardless of its size. The knife laws in Japan are among the strictest in the world. Jim When I was there in the mid-90s, I believe that the only restriction was blade length, which is why I carried a Gen-1 dragonfly. I guess the lock...

Frog Lube is slick, corrosion-resistant, and food-safe. I use it on my knives and firearms.

Re: Finally ordered that Lone Wolf Distributor's Endura
That’s very cool! If I didn’t already have an armorer’s tool that fits into the hollow of my Glock 23 handle behind the mag well, I’d definitely pick one of those up. What a clever idea! It might make an good impromptu marlinspike (in a pinch). Is the armorer’s tool solid or hollow?

Re: Salt Dyad interest ???????????????????????????????
I own two Dyads and more Salts than I can count, so I’d be very excited about a Dyad Salt. I like the general blade shape of the previous Dyads where the plain edge blade is pointy and the serrated blade is a sheepfoot. However, I’d like to see the blade hump reduced or removed to make the handle ea...

Re: Question for Sal regarding the green LC200N salts
I plan to buy a “matched set”: a plain-edge green Pacific Salt 2 in LC200N for my front pocket and a serrated-edge yellow Pacific Salt 2 in H1 for my back pocket (to “upgrade” my current black Pacific Salt 1, which has served me well for many years). The color green that they chose for the LC200N sa...

Re: What are you buying from Reveal 6?
I'll be grabbing a handful of serrated Pac Salts and a Pink delica or two for gifts I am listing so many of my EDC knives for sale today, now that the Pac Salt is going to FFG LC200N I feel like Inigo Montoya at the end of Princess Bride. Maybe I'll become a pirate? :D LC200N would be a good blade ...

Re: Considering Hawkbill for Gardening (sharpening question)
What do you mean by snap cuts? I'm having trouble picturing this. I generally use hawkbills by holding the top of the foliage to be cut and then pull-cut below that with the blade. I'm not where I can shoot photos or video right now, so I'll try to describe it. It's the same technique that you use ...

Re: what's best back pocket knife for doing stupid things?
My back pocket knife is always some type of fully-serrated Spyderco Salt to complement the plain-edged knife in my front pocket (though I occasionally carry a Boye Cobalt folder if I need a marlinspike). The Salt 1 or Pacific Salt make great all-around cutters, though as Vivi says, the Tasman is mag...

Re: Hatchets & Tomahawks?
I’ve had a Fiskars splitting axe and small hatchet for many years. Their axes are probably the best bang for your buck on the market. They cut well, they’re very lightweight, and they’re cheap despite the fact that they’re made in Finland (and thus well made). I picked up a Hults Bruk Almike hatchet...

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread
I’ve trained in various arts over the past 25 years. I earned black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, as well as an instructor’s certification in Jeet Kune Do, along with a laundry list of injuries. I’ve done a good bit of Kali and Muay Thai, but I’m not certified to teach those arts. Since the...

Re: Would you buy a Catcherman 2?
I would buy one for myself and one for my father, who taught me how to fish (and is still teaching me how to fish four decades later). It would be perfect in LC200N. Perhaps Lance could help with the re-design.

Re: POLL: Return of the SpyderSaw? Single bladed or as part of a Dyad?
Following Warstein’s comment, I think there might be an interest among the members of the lightweight backpacking community in a functional, lightweight folding saw. When you’re trying to get your base pack weight down under 20 lbs, every ounce counts. A Bahco or Silky saw is a great tool, but it’s ...

Re: Help order from Knifecenter to Europe canceled by Airline
It's not better in Germany. I had to go on a two hour there-and-back journey to pick up some incredibly dangerous knife from the customs people. After waiting half an hour I got invited into a dark office where my suspect package was placed, like evidence in a courtroom, on a desk in front of me. I...

Re: Idea for a complement to the sharpmaker
One last idea I could throw you at you all is to refer to Spyderco's SpyderPak holders that you can put several of your Spyderco knives in. They should consider making a SpyderPac for people that have a lot of their sharpening gear. It could hold the 204 Sharpmaker with all it's tools that come fro...
