Lol, I didn't understand anything from the title to the last sentence. Hope he explains though because once I know what he's talking about I might realize it's something I absolutely need! :D .

Those of you who own a dodo, give it a try for carving. I know, sounds silly, but try it before laughing. :) . I have been quite surprised. I will try to do some little projects in the coming weeks and post some pics.

I used to do a lot of carving, but kind of got out of the practice. I would commonly use carving tools and small exacto knives. Recently I sat down and started doing some carving with one of my new knives and was really quite impressed. The knife?? Don't laugh....it was a dodo. Seriously. I found it...

Greetings. Folding knives go back at least to ancient Roman times. Jim Hah, yeah, I have to be careful about repeating what I hear without googling it. :) . I just looked it up and there's a pretty interesting read on the origins of the Navaja on Wikipedia. They allude to the governmental restricti...

Welcome to the forum Titomake. Are you familiar with Navaja knives? Spyderco makes an excellent Navaja: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=632 From the Spyderco main website: " Unique to the Navaja is the Carraca or ratcheting sound it produces when the blade opens and closes....

So i may get a Salt model w/ serrations for christmas.

But is there a chance after sharpening a lot hitting softer areas of the steel? Or how does that grind hardening works when they do it in the factory?

Best regards oliver
Yes, but probably after about 60-80 years. ;)

Interesting. I was just guessing because it looks more polished and you don't see those prominent s30v grind lines. Maybe it's just different lighting.

Tue endura is also great however, I think the lack of steel liners outs this a better knife for the hunter. After my last hunt I literally hosed it off, dried it, oiled it and it was ready to go . Amazing knife. I will get black on black when I get the pe. I have yellow in se. The black on black wo...

Hey there, I probably love the salt knives as much as anyone on here, and I use them daily. However, if you want plain edge and your friend is not going to be in a saltwater or highly corrosive environment, I would recommend the endura over the pacific salt. Vg10 is very corrosion resistant and is n...

If you want to watch professionally done video with great images of the knife, edgeobserver is really hard to beat.

Some may not agree, but I personally enjoy a lot of x4cto's reviews. I appreciate most of his thoughts and opinions and he's usually good for a few belly laughs too.

Nah, he's carried a pocket knife everyday for 60 years. He would never leave the house without one. Liquid Cobra, you probably have the right idea. I think he would be blown away by the mnandi. It's not my style, but I have to remember I'm trying to buy what HE would like, not what I would like! ;) ...

I still have to say go for the Gayle Bradley Air. It looks a bit more traditional looking and the Wharncliffe is incredibly useful. It's one of the few, out of the box, that will satisfy the no clip requirement and it's on the Small side. Yeah, that's what I want to do. I want to believe that he wo...

Help choosing Christmas gift (knife) for my father

Hi all, I am thinking to get my dad a nice knife for Christmas. I am a devout spyderco fan and would like to find one that he would appreciate, but I haven't been able to so far. I bought him a g10 dragonfly earlier this year, and to the best of my knowledge it's sitting in a drawer. He thinks it's ...

Dfly hawkbill or "Really" Lil Matriarch reverse S would be a must have. My Ladybug HB just rocks. It lives on my keys except at the pool or beach where it in the Velcro pocket on the trunks. The only thing missing is a clip! Dragonfly platform is perfect. I personally like hawkbills and S...

I personally think I would love a reverse s in the dragonfly format. That blade shape can add a lot of cutting power to a small knife. Not my "grail" salt knife, but definitely something I would own.

You give it a bump! And hey, if by some wild stroke of luck that thing ever gets made, you have to immediately buy two of them, get on an airplane and bring me mine, and paddle out with me on a kayak to christen them!

P.S. I have a sneaky suspicion the new guy, Swigert, might be in for one too! ;)

Yup. I know it's not happening, but every time I pick up my new ti Millie I can't help but imagining it with a serrated h1 blade in it. That would be the holy grail.
