Re: New Salt handles

It will be called the Salt 2. Current plans are to offer yellow handles with satin blades and black handles with black TiCN-coated blades. Both will be available PlainEdge and SpyderEdge.

I hope this helps.

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco

Dear Evil D: If you have an issue with your Mantra, please return it to us so we can make it right. We QC our knives very diligently, but I can't rule out the possibility that a new-in-the-box knife might have been overtightened during initial assembly. If that's the case, we'll fix it or replace it...

The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco

To All Spyderco Enthusiasts: In recent months, there has been considerable discussion in various social media forums about the Spyderco Advocate knife and concerns regarding the ball bearing washer system used in its pivot mechanism. We have followed these discussions very closely and have been rese...

FYI, there are two types of stainless steels--ferritic and austenitic. Austenitic stainless steels are non-magnetic. Here's a deeper explanation:

Hey, brj: Peter is a cool guy. I met him when I was with Blackhawk. He was researching a book on tank warfare and was interviewing one of my coworkers who was a retired armor officer. Peter had a thing for knives, so I showed him the JaniSong and Brent Beshara's XSF-1 dagger. He was really impressed...

Re: Red Loctite - An Official Statement from Spyderco

In my original post, I expressed the recent change to Spyderco's warranty policy as follows: Spyderco stands behind the original materials and workmanship of our products. If a customer disassembles one of our knives and reassembles properly so its adjustment and operation are consistent with origin...

Use a 40-degree angle on the Sharpmaker. It should work just fine.

Re: I love my Southard but:

Hey, All: When I spoke with Brad Southard a couple of years ago about his design philosophies, he explained that he prefers the "push-button" style of leverage to the "light-switch" style and designs his knives accordingly. His rationale is that it reduces the size of the flipper...

It's obvious where they stand now and its clear they will honor the warranty as it's stood for a long time and they're wiping away all of the stuff that's clearly been expressed or implied for as long as I've been watching knife forums. All of the inaccurate information passed around and allowed by...

Re: Red Loctite - An Official Statement from Spyderco

Truth be told, our Warranty Repair technicians receive knives that have been disassembled all the time. In most cases, the knives have been reassembled with proper attention to detail so as not to compromise the proper mechanical function of the knife. If that's the case and one of the parts fails ...

Wow. Thank you MJ for taking the time to address us so thoroughly, and of course to the entire crew for addressing the issue itself. Who's better than you guys?! Though as we are talking about user-created damage, I thought one thing should probably be made overly clear because just based on the sh...

Re: Red Loctite - An Official Statement from Spyderco

Is this a retroactive policy change that would include old models under the new warranty umbrella...like, say, a Kukri or Barong? And would stripped pivot screws and frame screws on the older, discontinued models be covered effective today? Not Sal or Mike, but my understanding the warranty is that...

And, like my post of this morning, Kristi's post was made to clarify our policy in response to a...

Red Loctite - An Official Statement from Spyderco

To All: In recent months, there has been a lot of discussion concerning Spyderco’s use of red “high-strength” Loctite® on the screws of our knives. Unfortunately, this has also resulted in some misunderstandings with regard to our choice of this threadlocking product and our warranty policies. This ...

Re: Dark Star gear

Cool stuff... thank you for sharing! One thing to bear in mind, the second-generation of the Reverse has a longer tang that engages all three handle screws. If you have that (current) version, the shorter handles probably won't be an option. Thanks again for your interest in this design! Stay safe, ...
