How did that happen? The designer thinks there should be washers, customer service thinks there shouldn't be. That's what came to my mind, too. Pretty strange :) Well, the Caly3 is designed quite similar to the Persian2 (adjustable pivot, pinned handle with steel liners and G-10 scales), and that o...

Manix is a good knife for sure. Good luck finding what you are looking for! But: 1. I'm not 100% sure, but IIRC "Looking for" posts are prohibited by the Forum rules (?) http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48000 2. . . . . . . . . . .why. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ....

That's what has been clipped to the sunshield of my car for 4 yrs now. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/Murdoc370/CIMG5151.jpg Includes whistle and window breaker. Because of the patented blunt tip, you can't hurt yourself or others when cutting seat belt. Plus, you can "scissor" ma...

That's how a coating looks like if you mess around with metal polish too much (kinda like a before-after pic) : http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/Murdoc370/DSC00331.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/Murdoc370/CIMG9044-2.jpg Granted, this is TiN coating not DLC, but you get the idea. ...

The knife was most likely an Endura 2; the E1 and E3 had a FRN handle, the Endura 2 had a stainless steel handle. (well, actually the first Endra wit an official "number" was the 4th gen.; but consensus is that the first SS Endura is called "Endura 2", but even on the Spyderco on...

If I had to guess, I'd vote no. It was not common until now that the CC numbered knives differed from the non-etched ones, since they all came out of the first batch (the smallest ones I know of consist of 400-600 pieces). I don't think that changed... one important reason of being a member of the C...

Well, I added "Murdoc" to the search string and voilà, first in line :D

The search function is cool, but you don't ALWAYS find what you're looking for. At least I don't.

Not at all; all preorder slots are filled. You will have to wait for the secondary market, and given the popularity of the knife (which is even higher just BECAUSE it is sold out before the release), it will fetch premium prices (I'm afraid $170-$220) which I don't think are "worth" it. Af...

Most likely residue from the final buffing process. It is correct that they are ground by hand, but with a belt grinder, and by skilled people that have the right angle in their "muscle memory". So I assume they don't need the sharpie trick, and maybe it wouldn't work well anyway, because ...

If I was in your shoes, I'd send it in to spyderco and let them do what they can to it. You will end up with a) a useable knife (blade will be still shorter than original, but at least with a original Spyderco scary sharp grind) b) the assurance that the blade (heat treat) is ruined for good. in cas...

Without mentioning the knife you want to sell, it might have been all right to ask. This way, it kind of violates the rules. (It is not only "illegal to try to do so in the General Forum", but in all the subforums, including this thread.) That said: you may want to a) try http://www.knife-...

only the first 200 or so are numbered - most of them go to collectors that "own" a number. Occasionally, a numbered knife appears on the free market due to different reasons, but the majority of the sprint run items is NOT numbered (the quantities of a sprint run are usually 400, 600 or 12...

Yes, it was one of several sprint runs of the discontinued C52 Calypso. It featured the earlier "sandwiched" style with a ZDP core between two 420J2 layers. But beware: not every Spydie that features ZDP189 steel is a Sprint run :D You may want to take a look at this site, it is packed wit...

Hi Paul, and welcome to the forums. 1) Yes, this model was a sprint run (600 pcs) in 2006. AFAIR, it was the first series of SOLID (non-laminated) ZDP-189 knives in the "affordable" D/E 4 line. Later models featured the "usual" (for ZDP 189 knives) british racing green FRN (fiber...
