This was for a fishing equipment vendor. It was a pretty special project for them. What affect does it have on you that you can judge it so harshly?

Re: Rex45 Native Chief for sale @ arizonacustomknives.com
At the low low price of $295. Only $50 above MSRP, and $120 above MAP...What a steal.
I wonder how they get their hands on this? I don't see a Collectors Club engraving on it.

Thanks for the comparison. I have to get over my liner lock aversion and pick up a Military one of these days.

Re: What's Cookin'?
I made some some Sichuan dan dan noodles last night, along with homemade chili oil and Chinese five spice powder. It's an extremely popular dish in one of China's enormous industrial cities (Chengdu). It turned out well but I really just don't like the taste of Sichuan black peppercorns. It's one of...

Re: Police 4 K390 LW is shipping to dealers
Just got mine in the mail from the Collectors Club member I bought it from. First impressions are WOW. Perfect centering and fit /finish. The action is the smoothest of any of my Japanese Spydercos yet, and the lockbar spring is relatively gentle compared to my other P4, which is a welcome change. h...

Re: Seki or Golden Yellow?
Sal has mentioned before that dying FRN is a tricky and fickle process. I think once they find a formula that works consistently with the equipment they have on hand they stick with it, instead of trying to match. Maybe I'm wrong though. I prefer the Golden yellow. It's a little more lively and less...

Re: Police 4 K390 LW is shipping to dealers
You know what's interesting, the photos of the P4 K390s that have been circulating are showing a blue with much less green in it than the catalogue renderings. It reminds me a lot of the V-Toku2 blue FRN. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2013/2013/products/DSC_0554_544a8a73-6116-4820-b6c9-0d77ea906...

Re: Is Police Model Stainless SpyderEdge C07S still made?
That's interesting. I don't mind losing the stainless "Classic Police" but it's currently the only Police model offered in Spyderedge. If the C07S is going away I wouldn't mind seeing a serrated option for the VG-10 Police 4 LW.

See it in use here at 13:20:

It's a $7k blade. One guy cuts, the other two hold the two sides of the tuna. It sounds like he is saying it's chisel ground, to get the cleanest cut. They sharpen it once a week.

Re: Salt 2 or native 5 salt?
FWIW my Native Salt has the 2nd best action of my numerous Spyderco backlocks, behind my incredibly smooth ZDP Endura. I've been using that Native for about a year and it's always been good

What really matters is the apex. I'd like to see a magnified image of the apex of an edge sharpened this way.

You might be interested in finding a Sage 3 (Sage with ball bearing lock. Not caged, but close enough).
Like Wartstein I also find the Manix 2 to be too small for me. If I'm in that size range I prefer a Native. I use my Manix XL a lot though.

Looks good for making homemade pasta. Might be a little beefy for other kitchen work, but it's a fun design.

Re: Looking for a second Spyderco for EDC
I too prefer backlocks. My choices would be:
Small: Native 5 Salt, Chaparral
Medium: Endura, Stretch
Large: Police 4, Native Chief, Manix XL
If I just had to choose two, it would be a Native 5 and a Police 4.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Used my Street Beat to open a package that had its brother inside :D https://i.postimg.cc/WzqQsm5t/20210218-112155-HDR.jpg Interesting. Is that 440C one? How does the spine thickness compare to the Street Beat? I'm also curious as to your perception of the round/smooth FRN handle of the Street Beat...
