This isn't dye, it's done with Sharpies on the gray G-10 of a super blue Caly 3.5: https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/299839_2290381612140_1904696444_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_sid=e007fa&_nc_ohc=qvAqyuVdwOMAX_34xCH&_nc_ht=scontent-sea1-1.xx&oh=5b24ade03f89770fe397b6bc5c372a30&...

Re: Knife conscience
What sucks me in is the quality to price ratio. I find a well designed knife which skimps on steel quality but is really cheap. I have a few of those in the drawer. I have another drawer full of Becker fixed blades which I bought on impulse at a knife show. They are nice but I have more higher quali...

Hanan review
Before my recent purchase of the Hanan I hadn’t bought a knife for several years; that previous knife being the original Brad Southard / Spyderco collaboration. Brad seems to have an obsession with squeezing as much blade as possible into a given handle length and an unconscious hatred for the tip o...

Re: Mule Team Survey
1) Did you purchase a Mule Team knife in the past? Yes, at least 20. Still have 52100, M4 and Cru-Wear 2) Did you put a handle on it? Yes, most of them. 3) Did you make or buy a sheath? Bought a bunch of discontinued Buck sheaths which fit perfectly. 4) Did you test the performance of your Mule? Yes...

Re: What's your favorite thin & slicey Spydie?
When I traveled from Seattle to Boynton Beach, FL two years ago to spend 6 months caring for my father I knew he had no good kitchen knives. I brought a Chokwe and it performed magnificently. My Kreined Barong is also excellent; it would be difficult to choose between them.

Re: Who owns a Hanan?
Now that i've used it for a few days I've found it to be excellent. I love the blade but, as I wrote previously, I love recurves and am partial to draw cutting, which the back of the blade edge is well suited to. The detent works fine on mine. When I shake it as violently as I can the blade will dep...

Re: Any longtime users of the G-10 Stretch 2 (ZDP-189)?
I have the CF ZDP-189 Stretch. It's a very nice knife and IIRC a little difficult to sharpen. I've given the lightweight Stretch as a thank you gift several times when staying with friends while traveling. It's been pushed to the bottom of the list by other knives I like better and hasn't been in my...

Non-clearance items at Sierra Trading Post, like the Positron and Chaparral are also 25% off every few weeks. I did pick up on the $111 Hanan and while it's my first knife purchase in a couple of years I've previously bought dozens of Spydercos at STP.

Re: Who owns a Hanan?
Here I am, a resurrected forumite adding to a resurrected thread. I've been away for a few years principally because I had so many knives that I was so satisfied with. The last knife I bought was the first Southard collaboration. Buying some clothes on Sierra Trading Post I came across the Hanan for...

Southard, Chokwe ... musings
Taking out the trash this morning I was cutting up a big double corrugated box with my Southard and suddenly realized that I've been using this knife for six years. Where has the time gone? I'm down to about two dozen Spydercos and some customs and the Southard was one of the last ones I bought. Gre...

Re: Why the Manix in Maxemet?
"Artisan" steels may cost a LOT more largely because of low production quantities. Ramp up production and the price falls. If Carpenter thinks this is a winner they have an incentive to make a big batch, sell it at rock bottom pricing to knife makers with the agreement that they will get i...

Cool event. The story was on the front page of yesterday's paper because they started at Port Townsend, about twenty miles from me. I'll try to watch the first part next year, either from near Port Townsend or Victoria.

Re: Can't decide which Military
I've been carrying the black combo bladed Millie lately. I think the combo edge works well on this length blade. Since I back pocket carry the TI is ideal since the thicker handle keeps it upright with just a bandana beside it.

We're cut the cord several times over the years. Currently we've had no TV, local, cable, satellite since early 2008.

Re: China
For those of you that understand basic economics and have a grasp of statistical trends: Years ago I pointed out that the shift in manufacturing away from China was happening for three main reasons. The rapidly rising cost of maufacturing primarily due to labor cost doubling each decade, lack of pro...

"Other than more Companies from overseas are starting to manufacture products here."
So you see it as completely insignificant whether US companies manufacture in the US or overseas. You are entitled to your opinion but I doubt anyone else agrees with you.
