Re: lego handles...?

This is a great point, Doc. We have to remember that the people in these positions are just enforcing the rules they are paid to enforce, and hopefully they do it in a respectful manner. If we respond calmly, and don't get defensive, there are often reasonable ways to reconcile the situation. We als...

Re: lego handles...?

Not too long ago I went with a few friends to the new Guinness brewery outside of baltimore. We took an Uber and I had my Ouroboros clipped to my pocket. They ID outside of the building and those people also act as security screeners and they said that I couldn't bring in the knife (the clip was vis...

Re: How to buy a knife

The chaparral is a keeper for sure. I adore my “stealth” version and carry it in all “dressy” scenarios. It’s an interesting point you bring up, though. I bet 90% of the forum would say that they are caught in the paradox of having both objectively far too many knives, and yet not all the knives the...

Another run of the “R” with a 3D machined handle to evoke the past skeletonized versions.

Re: Anyone else have an edc that you didn’t expect?

I bought the “R” on a lark after missing out on the original smurf PM2s. After carrying for a while I realized it was really just an up sized Delica with a choil. It’s has a great combination of qualities that people often request (make a delica with a choil! Make a back lock PM2! Make a Caly with l...

Re: Investments

Thanks for the reply. I would never ask someone to prognosticate a short term move, I think we both agree that if you're tying to time a short term move you're speculating not investing. I'm definitely into investing in strong companies and sometimes that means investing in misjudged and/or overlook...

Re: Horrible topic but important: Why so many suicides?

I'm with Deacon on this one, although I know it's unpopular to say. If you have taken care of all of your responsibilities I see no moral obligation to keep living or positively contributing to society. Thought experiment: do you see anything morally wrong with a single man going off onto a large pr...

Maximum freedom yields the greatest possible efficiency.

There is no trade off between them--when people are free to choose, humans organize themselves in the most efficient manner.

Freedom _is_ efficiency.

Re: Investments

Penny stocks are just a form of gambling/speculating, it's not investing. I dont touch them. You should only buy a stock if you would purchase the entire company and be comfortable keeping it forever. If you buy something with the intention to sell it, you are speculating, not investing. I recently...

I voted for the last option, but I've never really felt the need to buy chinese when golden and taichung are putting out super high value knives (if more expensive in an absolute sense).

Certainly possible. Contact with sweat or acid could be the culprit.

There is no such thing as purely objective science. That is a myth. Every time a person examines anything there is going to be a bias of some sort, no matter what. Even computers can be biased as they are only as good as the (faulty and biased) programmer. The best we can do is eliminate as many bi...

Re: Reality-Check please: Are our VG10 Knives slowly poisoning us?

SEF, I really wish you would stop starting these kinds of radiophobic threads, SEF is building up a pretty solid reputation for nonsense threads. It’s just what he does. He's also polite, courteous and good natured. I've not known him to be judgemental of anyone. So I pose the question; Who ...

Re: Experiment: Try open carrying a fixed blade for a week

I would be interested in this, as I have more fixed blades than I use regularly. And it is legal for me to open carry a fixed blade knife, I'm just unable to conceal one. Without carrying a neck knife, I'm not sure how I could be certain that I didn't accidentally conceal it. So, I probably won't pa...

I mean if you're a normal human size and you've stood next to or shook the hand of an NFL lineman, you quickly realize that "giants" do exist. I'm pretty puzzled by this topic. Is there any question that there is a wide range of human sizes, both now and in the past? This is due to any one...
