Re: Super Blue
I would like a Para3 LW in Super Blue, and a Straight Spine Stretch. Also it would be interesting to see a Wharncliff Delica with a Strech spine, Rescue spine, or a straight spine.

I would like a Vagabond. I don't care what steel, AUS-6 is fine with me.

Sal, I think it depends on what your goals are along with your perspective. Also, there is the whole issue of some IP not being protected is some cases, while others being hyper-protected due to cronyism is an issue. Open Source works for some things, but not for everything. Some patents are only go...

Re: The Spyderco Rescue Designer? History?
Rescue JR in ATS-55 / G-10 and the Rescue 79 I'm so glad you made mention of the ATS-55 era. Yeah I know that Sal has said on occasions that they proved VG-10 to be better which is why they dropped ATS-55. But for some really strange reason I've always liked ATS-55 in spite of that decision >> espe...

Shawn,
I really liked the stones you let me try out. I noticed that the CBN polished more than the Diamond from the ones I tried. I am a sucker for a stone that polishes well.

I was going to say the same thing. It still looks like a great knife.Cycletroll wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 6:54 pmI like bigger knives so I'm out on this one. Make an Endela or Endura, or even a Stretch and I'll be all over it!

Re: The Endela.
I don't have an Endela, but I have been thinking of getting one, or maybe a Stretch (The staight spine Stretch really has my attention, I wish it was in Super Blue, V-Toku 2, 52100, or AEB-L. I do like VG10, that whole class of steels is great for EDC). I have the Delica/Endura clone from Benchmade,...

Re: Why the lack of Elmax options -- are any on the horizon?
Where does AEB-L stack against Elmax, CPM-154, and S45VN as far as a "tough" stainless blade? AEB-L is far tougher than any of those steels you listed, since it has a lower carbide volume, while the others have a pretty high carbide volume. Toughness is overrated as a necessary quality fo...

Re: Why the lack of Elmax options -- are any on the horizon?
I wonder which mid-high carbide steel (CPM 154 CM, CTS XHP, S30V, S35VN, S45VN, ELMAX) is the easiest steel to get a good production HT of around 60-62 HRC, closer to 61-62HRC if possible.

Re: How many knives do you typically carry?
Up until two days ago, I was carrying eight knives, as I was comparing different small fixed blades for edc made by custom knife makers. I put three of them away, so I could focus on one at a time, comparing them to my production blades I carry. It is hard to compare more than 2 or 3 knives at the t...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Impressions: 1. These stones are not flat. 2. These stones are worthless for flattening and polishing flats. 3. These stones load up with metal to swiftly to be used for anything other than touch-ups. 4. These Stones are very fine and should be just fine for edge maintenance if a high degree of pol...

Re: AFI Performance Flash Batch
sal, Also, the blade at the spine doesn't need to be very thin, the regular thickness on a Para 2, Delica or Tenacious would be fine, as long as it is thin behind the edge. I have said performance starts at 15* DPS and "0.015 bte, I call it the rule of 15. A Delica in M2, Super Blue, AEB-L, or ...

sal,
I think you are going to make Cliff Stamp's day with the Delica. I would recommend for a steel choice M2, Super Blue, AEB-L, or 52100 and a full height or high hollow grind.

Re: Got my first Resilience
There's a decent argument for the resilience having BETTER ERGONOMICS THAN THE MILITARY. Military: Better for use with gloves Thumb ramp cramps your grip less Finger choil allows for multiple grips Resilience: Fills your grip SO MUCH BETTER. Just grab the handle of a resilience as hard as you can, ...
