I don't live in NY, so I'm not directly affected by this. However, it is aggravating enough that there are places where this kind of thing can happen, it at least had one good effect - it finally prodded me into going ahead and joining Knife Rights - and I would encourage others who are not yet memb...

I just try to keep the edge of the knife that is against the Sharpmaker rods horizontal, so as I get to the tip of the knife, I'm raising the handle up higher to keep the edge at the right angle. With my Izula's I also found it helped to use the 30-degree angle settings first with the diamond rods, ...

I love my sharpmaker, enough that when I misplaced my first one (older generation that only had one angle setting) I bought a new one. And I also bought the diamond rods for it, so that I can "rescue" family members' knives that have never been sharpened in 10-30 years. You can get a knife...

Man, all this talk of kitchen knives makes me really want to get some good quality kitchen knives. Only problem is, I don't spend any time in the kitchen! I can't remember the last time I actually needed to cut and prepare food. As a single parent, and the only daughter left home has odd hours betwe...

I just bought one last week from an online store whose website listed it as AUS8, but the knife I received was indeed VG10. I think this might be one of the models which received an upgrade to the blade steel without changing the model number. I don't really think AUS8 is a *bad* steel though, but I...

That's interesting, since I had looked on CutleryShoppe's web site last week and didn't see the Tasman there (as I was already ordering 4 other knives from him) so I picked one up from the poorfish deal on Ebay that was mentioned here, also $40 and free shipping, but since he is in Texas I had to pa...

Here's a solution, just go ahead and order a knife from cutleryshoppe.com, and they'll usually throw a Spyderco catalog into the box with your knife when they ship it :D Keeps you addicted and coming back for more! I've got 4 more Spydies headed my way from them this week, can't wait till they get h...

Hope you can fix! Love wire clips, but the bent factor is quite high. I thats why I go IWB with all my knives, very little chance of bending or loosing. I've tried front pocket carry, it's handy, but the knife seems to get in the way when bending/squating. I agree, I carry my Caly 3 in my waistband...

That means at least 3300 x 2550 pixel which are a little more than 8 Megapixels and that means I can stop to worry which picture to choose. :( My old Canon is only capable of 2816 x 2112 pixels (6MP) which would equal ~250 dpi at 8.5 x 11 inches :( ****! Cheers, Rob I'd say, if you have a goo...

I'll be interested in seeing what others say in response to this too! Welcome, and I too would like to recommend the Sharpmaker to help keep your spydies sharp. It comes with a very helpful video. I too am pretty wary of Ebay. Cutlery Shoppe seems to me to always have good prices on Spyderco, $70.15 for Manix 2 (plus shipping, so I tend to group knife purchases together since shipping is around $8 no matter how many I order). This is for the regular Manix, not the hard-to-find recent Sprint r...

I presume Spyderco has finished shipping all available CTS-XHP Manix 2's to the dealers? Tough meat?

I'm thinking my teeth must not be up to a carnivore's task :) If the steak is so tough I need a razor-sharp knife to cut it, I'll probably order chicken instead so my jaw isn't worn out from chewing tough meat. I have used a nice sharp knife to cut steak on a paper plate before, for example when cam...
