Oh, that's easy. A micro bevel is a millionth of a bevel.

Thank you Mr Janich. What a fascinating adaptation! It's sad that companies need to respond to unrealistic "lock tests," but this is very clever.

Re: Sal, any possibility of a Scandium knife?
There are so many metallic elements in the periodic table! Many of them are lesser known to the common individual. Many are problematic, e.g., too expensive, too reactive, too difficult to work, toxic, radioactive, etc. However, there are still plenty of candidates left. For many metals, the main re...

Re: Para 3 Defect?
Nice clear macro shots make it evident that Para 3 has a machining defect on the lock face/ramp. Spyderco will want to see it so they can trace what happened.

Re: What is your favorite/most used lock type?
I chose the compression lock, but I hear you, Lance, on the back lock being more secure in hand when one-hand closing. I try to grasp my PM2 with my palm flesh and last two fingers when closing it with my thumb and index finger, and haven't dropped it yet. Then again, I'm not covered in fish blood, ...

Re: Mantra scales?
I would look into having it heat anodized. That would give you color without having to replace the entire scale. Obviously you're not going to replace the back scale since it has the lock built into it. Another route might be having some colored G10 liners made extremely thin to epoxy onto the outs...

Re: Freehand Sharpening: I want to learn how; suggestions?
I grew up using my father,s equipment, both synthetic and Arkansas oil stones. I never bought my own Arkansas stones, using Crystolon and India stones with oil. I later went to diamond plates plus water stones for polishing, especially on chisels and plane irons. I still sometimes use silicon carbid...

Re: gale bradley 1 liner lock problem
First, I think it is spelled Gayle Bradley. You can't easily extend the liner lock, but you can gain easier access to unlock it by increasing the cutout depth on the opposite side scale and liner. This can be done with a Dremel tool. If you do this, wear a respirator and preferably work outside. Als...

Re: Help me decide on a fully serrated?
Here's a thing I wonder. H-1 is only offered by Spyderco in hollow ground patterns for a valid reason. That reason is that the work hardening response of H-1 makes the second side a devil to grind if grinding one side at a time, as is the case with FFG geometry. Hollow grinding happens on both sides...

Re: Red loctite
Doing a bit of research on this show that Red Loctite requires 550 degrees to free. That's a bit high for my liking when all of my knives are FRN. The recommendation on Loctite's site also shows to advisory to not use on plastic parts. Loctite make a liquid remover, which I would think would be the...

Re: Is There Such A Thing As An "Endurica" Hybrid?
Thanks all for the suggestions. I put in order an for a stretch. I don't think I'm going to be able to resist a Para3 either, when they come out. I'm not trying to get into collecting, but I really love Spyderco's story and philosophy and design ethic. I'm hooked. A good choice. I'm not a "col...
