Re: Enuff Sheath Update

Thank you Mike, that should make the differences clear as day to everyone. Looking forward to my new sheath! Can dealers with old sheaths in stock send them in for an exchange as well, or is that handled differently? The shop where I got mine in Singapore still has about half a dozen Enuffs, all wit...

Re: Enuff Sheath Update

Thank you for the reply Mike, it was very helpful. I have one of the old sheaths, so will be sending it in for exchange. I think it would be quite helpful for pictures of the old and new sheaths to be posted on the product page as well as on the first post of this topic so that people are aware of t...

Re: Enuff Sheath Update

Based on the initial post, it seems yours is one of the old sheaths. Mr. Janich stated they will begin shipping in March of this year. So it would seem - however knives and boxes do occassionally get swapped around so I'd like to know how to visually verify that I have an older sheath before sendin...

Re: Enuff Sheath Update

Could I ask how you identify the new sheath vs the old? I just purchased a new Enuff leaf blade today - the date code on the box is BM indicating the knife was made last year, so I want to verify whether I have the new or the old sheath. Thank you.

Congratulations! I don't own any black bladed Spydercos yet :) I would say practice on another knife before you try sharpening the serrations - they are chisel ground unlike the plain edge portion and may require a different angle on either side for the stones to hit the edge rather than the top of ...

Contact with iron will transfer particles of iron that can later rust. I have seen this when tools, especially grinder disks and abrasive flapper wheels, used on steel and later used on stainless steel. Mostly cosmetic and not consequential on the surface, but not good for weld preparation if the c...

We believe it's organic. Seems to occur periodically when the knives remain in salt water for long periods of time. sal Thank you for the reply, Sal :) I think you are right - my friend who works at the shop and took the pictures said that the brown layer flaked off easily when he prodded it with a...

Thanks for the reply - what do you mean by 'iron surface contamination'?

"Rusty" Caspian Salt - what is this brown stuff?

Greetings everyone. We all know that H1 steel is chemically incapable of rusting because of the replacement of carbon with nitrogen in the steel chemistry. The Caspian salt below was recently brought into the Spyderco dealer in Singapore for some TLC. It has been used quite extensively for ocean div...

Nice thoughts there, Bruno... Soooo... Wadda ya cut yet? :D Haha! Thought you might ask me that ;) The first thing I cut was some paper, mainly to test the out of box sharpness. I was immediately impressed - the blade glided through the paper with shockingly little resistance, especially the belly....

I carry my Street Bowie on belt in kydex sheath, on right hip, with handle down. But custom kydex is very solid and I know that's will not coming off accidentally. Hmm! I never thought of that :) Does the handle get in the way when you sit down? What about driving with it in that position? And how ...

Got my Serrata today! This is my first Spyderco fixed blade and I'm really pleased with and excited about it. It seems to be a bit of a 'sleeper', both on this forum as well as on the internet in general so I thought I'd post some pictures to liven things up a bit ;) Like all Spydercos it is a wonde...

We ended up tooling the casting dies twice in an effort to bring the edge down to where it is now. Thank you Sal for all your hard work in getting these things 100% right. I have never felt the need to reprofile a Spyderco knife out of the box, which certainly cannot be said for knives from some ot...

I have used my Spyderco Serrata a fair bit, and it will do as a mainstay tool in the wilds...yes, it could be a tad thinner, but if not, it will do fine... I have chopped through 2 inch branches, and it does the job... That's good to know - I was going to ask you how the cast 440C handles chopping ...

Thanks for the reply Stuart, really appreciate it. It's great to be able to interact directly with the designers on this forum. My original pattern was a tad thinner, and the first prototype was a near copy, but the grind at the ricasso was not as rounded as mine...and so the edge was closer to the ...
