Different FRN recipes?

I ran into an odd situation today. I bought an Assist 2 that was tighter than I like. I put some Militec1 on it and heated her up with a hairdryer. It got *really* tight when it was hot. I threw it in the freezer for a while and it was loose as a goose when cold, with some horizontal blade play. Aft...

Black is "tactical".

It's probably stupid, but I just go by the manufacturer's data sheet for blade length. Hopefully, if it was ever an issue, that would be a get out of jail free card.

Stonewashing adds a step, and thus would increase the price. Of course, it hides all kinds of manufacturing shortcuts, so maybe it's cheaper in the end if you're willing to go that route. Either way, I don't like stonewashing. Why have a user start out ugly? If it's a safe queen, then why not have a...

As long as the grind is high and the edge thin, I like them both. If the grind isn't high, or the edge is thick, I don't like either one.

When I'm working around the house and yard, I always carry my Swisstool plus a folder. In the yard, I also often carry a Mora for doing all those ugly things that you shouldn't do with knives you care about(mostly digging and cutting roots). When I'm off doing anything else, I leave the multi-tool a...

I've had three Leathermans and the Victorinox Swisstool RS. The Vnox rocks big time. The Leathermans never did it for me, the ideas are great, but I find the execution and engineering somewhat wanting. I'm looking forward to trying a Byrdwrench.

For me, the distinction isn't so much hollow vs. flat, but high grind vs. saber grind. I really really like high grinds of either persuasion and have little use for saber grinds as I am very willing to trade off strength for cutting ability.

For me it's a combination of things. The price, so many other knives that I want, and a fairly recent BG-42 fix when I had my Buck 560 upgraded. I lust after the BG-42 mili, but I'm having trouble pulling the trigger. I'm sure I'll be sorry in a year when they're scarce.

I want one of these so bad that I quit lurking and joined just to post on this thread. I'd be up for any handle material, but would love to see the steel be VG-10. BG-42, ZDP-189, and H1 would be next in no particular order.
