Texture Snob?

I am probably too subjective to the "feel" of knife handles. As such, texture is a major factor in my choice of EDC. While I own several G10 models, I don't carry them much because of the sandpaper like texture. I realize that G10's rough feel is what adds utility for some folks, but I don...

Favorite Handle Material / Texture

I consider myself a "texture-snob"...if I don't like the way a handle material "feels" I find myself not buying the knife even if I know it's a great utility design. My favorite texture is the bi-directional fishscale FRN on the Caly, jr. I don't like the way G-10 feels, not to m...

Amazing

several members shot me out of the saddle before I could pull the trigger on my post...I guess my 20 word/hr. typing skills are inadequate when a hot topic is posted. :( It should have been an omen when I had to login TWICE  while typing my response. Oh well, even Matt Dillon sometimes got plug...

Not user error, or equipment failure...just misapplication

+1 with jackknife Also consider this Evil...cutting corr. cardboard seems to be a fairly pedestrian cutting chore at first blush, but feel your blade after zipping thru just one box...it gets quite hot. Also, as you well know, carboard is often a stew of recycled materials with A LOT of grit and abr...

Can't believe I waited this long...

to pull the trigger on a C90PBK...it is close ( if not exactly ) the knife for me...just enough belly...a bit of a point to start cuts into packages...great ergos...just PERFECT...I think it would be cool to mold the FRN with the bidirectional fishscale pattern ala Caly jr....but have any of you guy...

polished G-10

I really love the look and feel of polished g10...I also know it is not wise to try to sand/polish it myself  ...I would love to customize the scales on my Manix2 by polishing and perhaps adding some wormgrooves like on some of my Granddad's old slipjoints...anybody on the forum set up for this...

Need suggestion for a good camera

for posting some pics here. Would definately like good macro capabilities...on a budget-of course. I like the extreme close ups some of you guys are able to achieve. I want to start researching and need a starting point. So which models have you all had good results with. I'm pretty tech saavy and I...

Been awhile since I cleaned the hones as per Justin suggested...helped a lot. With more patience and another 30+ progressive sharpening session plus incorporating almost all the tips garnered from the braintrust has helped me produce a servicable edge. I guess part of my problem is trying to recaptu...

Although this was my first thread, I feel like you are all old friends from my many years of lurking on the boards...and thanks for such honest help! :) First off, my blades are not excessively dull, most of my cutting tasks are light duty. I fully subscribe to Unit's "SharpKEEPER" philoso...

WANTED...Your best Sharpmaker tip

Been collecting spyderco's many years...got 2 sharpmakers, but I never can achieve a "shaving sharp" edge  . I broke down and started this thread when I could not even cut a harbor freight coupon out of a Sunday circular with my Kiwi without tearing...and that was after a 30+ minute p...
