Re: Knife Joker GITD Jester 20CV!!

I'm trying to decide whether to get one or two. Anybody know what they charge for postage for a sub-$99 purchase? (It's free for >/= $99)

FYI you will need a T5 bit to disassemble the Ladybug 3Image
So internally it looks just like a shrunk Pacific Salt! In case anybody didn't already know, that proves it's a "real knife"! :spyder: :)

Re: Knife Joker GITD Jester 20CV!!

It was news to me that the scales were interchangeable with Ladybug (thanx, Spydergirl88). I was thinking the Jester was a hair bigger, but I still want one plus a backup incase I want to mod one :D , also, free shipping effectively makes the 2nd one a bit cheaper.

Re: Knife Joker GITD Jester 20CV!!

Pardon my ignorance, being new to Spyderco knives, whats the reason for the shape? Just guessing honestly, but I think the shape is suggestive of a tiny pirate's cutlass, which might be in keeping with it's jocular name. But really it's a fairly nice looking and useful blade shape. If you found you...

Re: Knife Joker GITD Jester 20CV!!

I'd go with a salt model for keychain knives. H1 or LC200N would have been my preference. Not really a big deal though. I just like variety so I was glad for something different than VG-10. 20CV is like 90% as corrosion resistant as LC200N but has excellent edge retention, which I think is a better...

Re: 52100 military sprint

Well, I've neglected mine for a long time, but all this 52100 love is making me want to it out. My Cruwear & factory 2nd Ti model have been my go-to Millies for quite awhile.

Re: Spyderco 2021 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

KC went ahead and deducted my $140... I think that means my K390 Stretch will ship later today :p No word from them yet. Earlier National Knives was letting me put one in my cart with no contraindications, so apparently a good bunch of them will be shipping now. Edit: still no notification. The paym...

Re: S110V doesn't "feel" sharp

The bladehq chart is not based on any quantifiable testing data, It's just a compilation of people's anecdotal thoughts and opinions. I'd only use it to see how people "feel" about the steels but it's useless for actual useable information about the steels. Seems the s110v runs slightly h...

Re: S110V doesn't "feel" sharp

98% of the time, I "use" tool steels and don't have too much experience sharpening my S110V & S90V knives, but so far it seems not too terribly hard to get a shaving edge on my S90V Manix 2 XL and orange Manix 2 lightweight (& a factory 2nd CPM154/S90V), using just my Sharpmaker me...

Re: Police 4 questions

Thanks for the welcome back Doug. I will probably be stopping in a lot more frequently in the future than over the past 5 years …although I don’t think that I would be posting anywhere near the same frequency that I used to post. Although I previously only had the G-10 SE Police 3 in VG-10 steel it...

Sharp Guy, re your signature: Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most! I'll have to say that at times like this, my Kodachrome comes in second ;) I was looking through my pics of my St. Nicks Lil' Native and they ranged from the deepest dark crimson-cherry-burgundy or whatever to pale, w...

Re: I have a premonition about a red FRCP Lightweight Manix 2

I think it would have to be an Exclusive, since Spyderco in his in house models has red reserved for the trainers?! Oh yes. I forgot -- but started to mention that if there was some reason against it, a deep & darker cherry red would be very nice too, which is probably what I would call the St....

I have a premonition about a red FRCP Lightweight Manix 2

I wonder if it'll be CPM MagnaCut, or maybe DLT has dibs on red FRCP as well as G-10 and it'll be CPM 20CV :D

I'd be very happy with either one.

Anybody else have any premonitions (or wishful thinking :) ) about future models?

Re: Cliff Stamp has passed away

That's certainly an unseemly early age to pass. Like others, I've thought of him from time to time and wondered why he didn't show up much on this forum in the last couple of years. He was much more interested in sticking to the truth of things than in babying the kiddies and coaxing them along, alm...

Hello fellow Spyderco Fans, Wow …it’s hard to believe that I haven’t posted in almost 6 years. I’ll try to keep this one brief. I’m sure that will get either a chuckle from those of you who might remember my earlier posts …or maybe someone calling BS on me for writing that. We’ll have to see which ...

This is my UKPK at Audley End, a mansion built in 1605 by Thomas Howard, one of the great sea captains who thwarted the Spanish Armada in 1588, and chancellor to James 1, who united the Scottish & English crowns. Much altered over the centuries, it was used as a training centre from 1943 for br...

Re: What do lefties think about serrations?

FWIW, in theory, the serrations on "right handed" Spyderco knives favor left handed use, and visa versa. I practice, when both are used left handed they cut about the same. Same goes for when both are used right handed. I can use a knife equally well with either hand, just find I can open...

Re: What do lefties think about serrations?

As a lefty, I've always thought of Spyderco serrations as being left handed. For example, when you hold a piece of cheese, summer sausage, etc, with your right hand and cut off a slice with your left hand, the remaining piece has a clean cut, as mentioned by Evil D. I don't usually use a serrated kn...
