Re: Pick my first Spyderco fixed blade, for EDC
A lot more people have the Junction than I thought considering it was discontinued 3 years ago. I could be wrong, but I think the Junction was discontinued in the Fall of 2019. I picked one up at the SFO in November 2019, then they put them on clearance shortly thereafter. There may be more still o...

Re: BD1N or SPY27 Fixed Blade Plans? (non mule)
I had no idea the Ronin 2 was now made in BD1N! Is there a clear way to know when and what models will be made in new steels like this? I’m a lot more interested in the Ronin now... The Spyderco catalog and newsletter are probably best. Otherwise google should help, as Spyderco updated their websit...

Great recs so far. A lot more people have the Junction than I thought considering it was discontinued 3 years ago.
Anybody carry a Jumpmaster 2? I've seen Sal say it's one of his favorite all-rounders.

Re: Pick my first Spyderco fixed blade, for EDC
My concern with the Swick and Enuff is lost utility with a very short blade. But the extremely small footprint while carrying is tempting. I'm not a large person so smaller might be better. I had the same concern about the Junction re: scale thickness. I like the idea of having something more "...

One more thing - while I am mindful of not alarming coworkers and people on the street, I live in Wisconsin so no legal restrictions around knives.

Pick my first Spyderco fixed blade, for EDC
I want to get a Spyderco fixed blade, primarily for EDC but also for camping and bike-packing (bicycle). I'm not opposed to a bigger blade, but probably want to cap it at 5" for EDC purposes. Besides that I don't really have any specific requirements in mind. So hit with me what you guys love a...

Re: Need custom scale advice
I am pretty sure cuscadi.de could and would make G10 scales for your Police (with NON nested liners). Here is an example in cerglass they made: https://cuscadi.de/spyderco-police-customized-underwater/ The link is in German but of course you can contact them in English! I'll send them an email. Tha...

Re: Need custom scale advice
I have, but G-10 Police 4's are few and far between these days. There's one from the Seconds Sale on eBay right now but it's $210. I'd like to keep this under $100, if possible. Although I know that asking a custom maker to start a new template from scratch is costly... I did a blade swap with a Po...

Need custom scale advice
Hi all- I love my Police 4, but it's the KnifeCenter version with the Pakkawood scales, and I really don't like the texture of the scales (way too smooth). I'd much prefer a regular peel ply G10 scale. I've only found one custom scale maker who lists the Police 4 (suingab) but he told me he only doe...

I generally don't carry a knife at home. But I've been on a Native Chief kick so if I go out for groceries it will be that.

Re: 2+ years of SE Salt 2 daily use by a non knife AFI
Lovely-looking knife. Your buddy is lucky that you can take care of his knife maintenance every once in a while. This is what jumps to mind when I think "patina". Not intentional acid-etching or oxidizing, but real wear from real use. The other term for it is "beausage" (beauty t...

Re: First Spyderco for Little Brother
The Native 5 Salt is pretty much the perfect allrounder. Plus the only thing on your list that comes close to it in ergonomics is the Para 3, but to me the backlock and LC200N of the Native are more reliable in outdoors situations.

You might be right JD Spydo. I'm hoping the fact that it's a backlock will subdue the flippers and Instagram knife enthusiasts a little bit.

Re: production version of Native 5 Salt LC200N combo
The Native 5 is available in combo edge. With the S30V stainless steel, I doubt that you will see any corrosion if you are using it for camping. The corrosion resistance of LC200N only really sets it apart from that of S30V in marine environments or something similarly corrosive. https://www.knifece...

Re: Endela the Native, Shaman = Stretch
I'll go ahead and swallow my pride and say that I thought about it a bit more and am actually on-board with a request for a Native variant between the 5 and the Chief. Although I'd still like to try a Stretch 2 and see if that is close enough to what's being asked here. I'm not convinced the thumb r...

Re: Endela the Native, Shaman = Stretch
I've only been on the forum for a few months but the amount of "I want" posts is staggering. I recognize that part of the purpose of the forum is to get feedback to Spyderco, but the constant demands are a little fatiguing. There is some space between the Chief and Native 5, but I feel lik...

Re: 2021 wish list!
The dealers go off of sales numbers and customer feedback on their social media when deciding what orders to put in. The fact is that the PM knives are more popular than other production models. Compression locks and titanium frame locks are all the rage in the pocket knife enthusiast community righ...
