Re: Solving the issue of things we ask for
Something like this takes a lot of planning and resources spent just on the daily logistics of it, not to mention space, tools, employees, etc... To put it bluntly, there's almost no way Spyderco wouldn't lose money on it. Even if they break even or make a small margin, they could be using those res...

Re: 2021 Forum knife?
I really like the idea of a Rock Jumper in a special steel and handle. I also like the idea of a fixed blade, but maybe not as popular. I also love the Native Chief. Perhaps a bit big for some people, but the Military has been a forum knife in the past so... To the people (constantly) requesting Van...

Re: Spyderco Military Observations
A stop lock Military would be super cool, but I understand why the Comp lock is financially a better choice for Spyderco. I liked my Parata while I had it. The stop lock is a unique-feeling lock but I wouldn't call it smooth in the way a liner lock or Comp lock is. I would still buy a stop lock Mili...

Re: Pick my first Spyderco fixed blade, for EDC
I decided to pick up a Jumpmaster 2 to try out. What a fantastic knife. While I haven't got much use into it yet, here are some thoughts: -Ergonomics are great. I have medium hands and the handles are pretty roomy. There's a bit of a contoured swell to the scales but they are pretty slim, which make...

Re: Manix 2 LW needs an update badly.
Keep in mind that even molds made of tool steel wear from molding cycles. When a tool runs out of "shots" is a good time to redesign the mold because a new one will have to be machined anyway. That's been my experience working with plastics, at least.

If Sal pops into this thread, I'm predicting one of his answers will be the Jumpmaster/Jumpmaster 2.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
You two never thought of actually swapping just the complete knives so that you could try K390 and Vivi HAP40? (Though perhaps you already have K390 in another knife - ?) That probably would have saved us some time :D I'm planning on buying the K390 P4 Lightweight when it comes out so I would like ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I am bit confused:As I know you don´t have the HAP 40 / Pakkawood Police; but you do have your K390 / Pakkawood combination. So: Did you just get a Pakkawood handle without the matching HAP40 blade? And put a K390 blade in it?! I have the Hap 40/Pakkawood P4 and Vivi has a G10 K390 P4, a...

Re: Slow on the Draw
Try moving your palm up toward the pivot before thumbing the blade open. The closer your thumb is to the pivot, the less likely you'll run out of thumb reach before the blade is fully open. You could also try "flicking" it open using your middle finger from underneath the knife. Should be ...

Re: Help with my first manix
I think with all the hubbub around the LW not having screw construction, a lot of people don't realize that the pivot does use a screw and the blade can be removed , I think. So the maintenance issue isn't as big a deal as is made out to be. It's essentially the same as the really fancy and expensi...

Re: Stretch in k390
Can someone enlighten me as to why the straight spine is desirable over the original Stretch spine shape? I see everybody gushing over it but I can't think of why it matters.

Re: Fixing or Improving scuffs & scratches on Ti Chaparral
Is it the stepped ti version? There is a blue anodized version of that and a non-anodized (or possibly clear anodized) silver version. If it's the blue version and there is a scratch in the anodizing, there's nothing you can do besides removing the remaining anodizing and leaving as is or re-anodizi...

Re: Backlock is my favorite lock, even for fidgeting...
I think a lot of people on the forum have the same preference for backlocks, including myself. Unfortunately I think you're right that newer knife enthusiasts who get most of their information from social media tend to think of backlocks as old fashioned, that they can't be "flicked open" ...

When I was still working in machine tool shops I had two brands of tools I really loved. One of them was "STARRETT" and the other was SPI. I'm wondering if STARRETT makes an angle measuring tool like these? I've been out of it for so long that I'm kind of lost on what's new in the tool in...

Vivi is, very generously, lending me a Street Beat to try out.
