Thanks for your answers. I didn't know there had been so many of them.

Which brings me to my next question : why did it stop ? Too much hassle ? Not enough buyers ?

it's pretty close to ideal when you consider all the factors (economy, corrosion resistance, strength, ease of sharpening, etc.) Sure, there are steels that beat it in specific areas, but as an all-around steel, it appears to be among the best around. That pretty much sums up my feelings too. I've tri...

I don't have a Native or a Manix, even though I considered them both. As I already own a few medium-sized lockbacks, I would choose the Manix LW (cheaper and lighter than the regular Manix).

Not so obvious for me. Difference in street price between M2 LW and para2 or Yo2 is about $30. Upgrade steel on M2 and this difference will be much less. For extra $15-20 I would rather go with yo2 or para2. You definitely have a point, and to be honest I'd like a PM2 just as much as a M2 LW (if no...

I like this idea. I like it a lot!

CTS-XHP would be nice, but actually any steel would be fine. As for the color, so many to choose from...

I only tried a few other folders, because as soon as I stumbled upon Spyderco knives I knew I had found home.

But I also like Victorinox, because Spydercos don't come with a file, a bottle opener or scissors...

My very first Spyderco. I didn't know much about knives at the time (not that I'm an expert now...), and I had never seen anything like it, with its clean design and its weird-looking blade (at least it seemed weird back then. Now that I have seen knives such as the Dodo or the Civilian, the Centofa...

I can use it both ways, but using my thumb and index finger is easier.

It's also safer, my other fingers being out of the way of the blade (the lock is very smooth, which means the knife is fast to open... and just as fast to close!).

I have both the Delica 4 and the Salt. Very similar knives obviously, and yet I prefer the handling of the Delica : the Salt has a steeper thumb ramp and a slightly shorter handle, which makes it a little bit less comfortable to hold, especially when you use it for a while. Of course, handling is al...

What's the first Spyderco you'll buy in 2012?

My first Spyderco purchase of the year will likely be the Dragonfly Salt (or maybe the VG-10 version. Still on the fence about that)

What will be yours?

The Ladybug, the knife everyone should have.

To be honest, I've been considering a Dragonfly lately : not much bigger, and yet much more comfortable to handle (or so it seems). I'll probably end up carrying both, one in my pocket and the other on my keychain.

Sage 3 for me. Granted, I don't have that many Spydercos and most of them are lockbacks, but still... This Bolt Action Lock is really smooth.

I was also torn between orange and blue, and finally picked the orange one :

Of course, it doesn't mean I won't buy a blue one someday.

Green (which would be my third choice) doesn't seem very popular : I'm not sure I've ever seen a green Delica. Does anybody here have one?

I knew that this knife is hot, but didn't think that it is that hot. Same here. PM2 + orange handle + CTS-XHP + very reasonable price : it certainly looked like a winning combination right from the start, but selling half of the run in less than a day is quite impressive. And clearly unexpected, ev...
