Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Carrying a pair of favorites today: the C32 Spur (2005 Sprint Run edition) in both PE and CE. Notice the matching Collector's Club number (029V). I bought the plain edge variety through another forum. Years later the combo edge partner turned up on Ebay and I convinced the seller that he needed to s...

Re: Sal: C04 Sprint Run? (or a new C09 CoPilot Sprint Run)
Depends on the scale material, right? Metal handles = metal clip, FRN or G10 etc could be either wire clip or metal clip.Northglenn500 wrote:Old style metal clip or wire clip?

Re: Sal: C04 Sprint Run?
Of these, I'd especially like to see a Co-Pilot Sprint. FFG VG-10, TI-scales, lanyard hole with a wire clip = perfection. That would be sweet. Personally, I'd love a CoPilot with titanium scales for EDC. But that handle material would drive up the price and might keep it out of the reach of lots of...

Re: Red loctite
I've been watching this thread from the sidelines and as a primary user of vintage Spydercos, didn't have much of an opinion one way or another about red Loctite since I'm not a knife tweaker. But I will make one observation based on experience and that is that I have never seen another company as c...

Re: Sal: C04 Sprint Run?
We made one with Kraton inserts. Didn't go over so well. I'd rather do a CoPilot revision. sal Sal: You must be talking about the C32 Spur as a reissue of the C04 Executive? People were crazy not to receive that c32 very well, and I'm one of those weirdos who totally LOVED that model and own six of...

Sal: C04 Sprint Run? (or a new C09 CoPilot Sprint Run)
Sal:
Is there any particular reason why the model C04 Executive has never had a Sprint Run? It was such a great design and size for EDC use.
It would love to see it comeback for a Sprint.

Re: Original Spyderco Knife: questions about it.
In the Spyderco Factory Tour Blade HQ video on YouTube, Eric Glesser shows that knife and says it was the first prototype for what would become the C01 Worker in 1981. He says that Sal took parts from a Spyderco Portable Hand and welded the on top of the blade to make the hump then drilled out the r...

Re: Spyderco C09 CoPilot Varieties
As a fan of VG-10 blade steel, I've always thought that the 2006 Sprint Run C09BKP CoPilot was an ultimate form. The Almite aluminum handles were a nice lightweight alternative to stainless steel. If I could remake the CoPilot for another Sprint Run, I think I would keep VG-10 for the blade steel an...

If Spyderco were to do another Sprint Run of the C09 CoPilot, what blade steel and handle material would you want to see?

Re: Spyderco C09 CoPilot Varieties
Hi CoPilot, Here is a picture and info regarding my CoPilot. As you can see in the picture, it has a date of 1/29/02 and features ATS-55 blade steel. If my memory serves correct, I believe I purchased this model around mid-2002. Apologies for the cruddy cell phone picture: http://i1107.photobucket....

Re: Spyderco C09 CoPilot Varieties
Hi there from Down under, Here's my pic of my favorite co-pilot. I believe it to be a Santa Fe Stoneworks custom in Black Jet and abalone. Could someone please confirm and provide a rough time stamp for it? Thanks Bytey I believe you are correct with the identifications of the stones used. With the...

Re: History behind the Native?
The story behind the C41 Native was given some ink in Kenneth DeGlavigne's The Spyderco Story (Golden, CO: Paladin Press, 2000). My copy is at the office right now so I don't have access to it. There was some good background information on the C41 in there, though. Walmart played into the story of t...

Re: Help with identifying knife handles
Spyderco did have a titanium-scaled Police, but it had flush-ground pins holding it together. Yours has round-headed pins and appears to have Tufram-coated aluminum handle scales. The model number on your knife would be C07ATU (Model C07, aluminum handles, Tufram-coating). Based on the blade marking...

Re: When did Spyderco start marking blades with Steel type?
This is great information, JD. I very much appreciate the efforts that you have gone to track down early promotional literature and then (with Spyderco's permission) allow it to be scanned and shared on Ted's website. I've got those little 1998 and 1999 catalogs too and I think the reason that I hav...

Re: Spyderco C09 CoPilot Varieties
A possible prototype that was carried by Sal. Note the stamping on the blade. Also note the lack of a lanyard hole. The blade profile and the shape of the butt of the knife have been modified so that they "flow" into one another when the knife is closed. Sal would later take this concept ...
