Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Native 5 S35VN, first day with it. Loving it so far. https://i.ibb.co/fMM913g/20210410-185332.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/gkWXKdQg/20210410-175755-HDR.jpg Get any weird comments when people that don't understand patinas see it? The Cru-wear Manix 2 I have looked almost black when I bought it. Looking b...

Heat treatment services?

I had a company laser cut a new blade for a Spin I have that was snapped in half. I went with 440c so costs wouldn't get to high because I was already having other things cut out it. I need to get the bevels ground and have it heat treated. I don't have a bevel jig so I'm not sure if I'm going to gr...

so my guess is that MT30 will be Rex45.
If it will be, why would they delay to announce it since they know how to make this steel right ?
You never know maybe they decided to run the higher profit margin knives first. Then supply could have run low pushing off its release as a mule.

That is interesting. If you did a Salt model you could have a perfectly clear knife except for the blade and thin lock bar.
That's a great idea. Everyone keeps giving me reasons to buy more knives. I love it! :D

Glued scales?

Is it common practice for Byrd scales to be glued to the liners? I just took my Cara Cara 2 apart and both scales are glued. I can't see how this is beneficial in anyway. I bought it new at an authorized dealer.

Cara Cara 2 underrated?

Is the Cara Cara hiting way above it's price or is it just me? This knife really blew me away and that was back to back with knives over 4 times the price. Because of the price I expected some weird quirk or something. Well I couldn't find one, only tons of performance! It cut as good as the Chap ev...

Re: 3d printed clear Chaparral scales

With both scales mounted the lockup felt the same as FRN. I think the liners hold most of the tolerances for you. I am having an issue with the very thin scale sections along the backspacer and lockbar. The border around the liner is less than 1mm thick and seems to stick to the print bed causing l...

Re: Elastic Ceramic

I doubt the steel industry even notices cutlery. And certainly not high end cutlery in exotic steels. Even mass market kitchen utensils are probably only a tiny blip on their radar. The steel industry is _huge_ and has much, much bigger fish to fry than pocket knives. And didn't Roman say that the ...

I'm sure I will, haven't met a Spyderco I didn't like. It may even make me buy that N5 Salt I've been eyeing for months.

Nice job! Did you have any problems with the action or the lockup?
I haven't really used it like this yet. When I get both final scales done I can let ya know. It felt good with one on if that means much.

Nice work! How durable is this material?
Very brittle almost like plexiglass.

I have the Anycubic Photon Zero, it was the cheapest available at the time ~230usd. The resin is also Anycubic translucent blue.

3d printed clear Chaparral scales

This is just a test.... beeeeeeppppp :p. No really just test fitting to find anything I missed. I did forget the wire clip cutout. The depth of the liner in the scale needs adjustment. This is straight off the printer. I figured to start with the Chap since one of its purposes is showcasing differen...

What else would you like to see in this area of the forum (specific to Mule Teams)? I would like to see more informations about future releases even if I understand that Spyderco needs to keep them until everything is set, but how to get an interest for mule #30 if we still don't know which steel i...

Re: How many is too many?

i try to keep from having too much overlap, at least within the brand. i think all of my knives are very different from each other. i don't have two of any model, except the ladybug, but it's hard to call them the same when one is from the early '90s and the other is a hawkbill salt. i also try not...

When your wife throws your stuff on the lawn. Otherwise, no such thing. :D Luckily the wife approves...for now :p. Re: MT30 - what's your guess?

I think it's going to be one of the steels already mentioned. It would be cool to have something in a high tungsten tool steel like RexAAA or REX95. There's also 2 steels that PSM Industries made T15HV and T42HV but I never seen it used anywhere.

Re: Why PD#1?

After some more research on this topic it seems I singled out PD#1. There was a few other mules still for sale mid 2019 one being the CTS-B70B. That was released in 2015 so it took 4 years to sell out! Now we're into selling out within hours!? The other mules available at that time where RWL-34(2016...
