Re: Kinda disappointed my with my PM2

A soldering iron placed on the very end of the screw for a few seconds will typically make it where screws could be loosened.
Make sure you have quality/ well fitting torx drivers as well. Really easy to strip heads of screws if the drivers are of poor quality.

Good gosh! I cross over the Trinity river every day going back and forth from work. We got gators ,huge gnarly looking fish , and bodies floating in that thing!

Sprint SuperHawk with some sort of carbon steel blade gets my vote.

I agree with Jazz. Some people like to grind crazy texture etc in to handles because they are convinced they need the extra traction. If the handle fits you well, you probably will be able to hold on to the knife just fine.
That mod looks clean and factory appearing. Well done.

Re: Titanium military question?

Looks like the lead in for the laser. May have been out of focus/center, or maybe the feed rate was too high. Bottom line only cosmetic, and shouldn't hurt function.
To answer your question, it would be a newer model. Mine is a first year production with no lock bar insert.

Re: EDC and the general public

Is this a imagined scenario or something that has actually happened to you in the past? I have carried pocket knives since I was about 8 years old. Never once have I been asked " what is that in your pocket"? When I worked in the oilfield, there was a industry wide ban on pocket knives. I ...

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

Yet another example of why Spyderco is such a awesome company. On a side note, I would probably lean towards a brighter color handle. When I used to turn wrenches for a living brighter colored handles sure were easier to see in low light conditions. I imagine it would be easier to find in any condit...

I have to admit I prefer carbon steels over stainless these days. I have not tried 1095 yet, but plan to when I get a heat treat oven.

Re: Blerv's Car Chit-Chat

I actually thought about buying a reman points distributor just in case a EMP got dropped on us. I figured I could swap the distributor in, and I would have a vehicle.....then I wised up. It would probably be difficult to buy gasoline if the pumps were out......not to mention everyone's car would be...

Re: The loss of common courtesy

I can't wrap my mind around the concept that being polite, and using manners when speaking with others is somehow " oppressing" a person's individualism. You can still very much be whoever you choose. It's not at all. The point is that very rigid social mores seem to come as a package, as...

Re: The loss of common courtesy

Well I'm only 39, so I don't guess I'm all that old. I have worked in customer service for years, and simple words like please, thank you, thank you for your business, etc are becoming less frequently used.

The Microtech navy Scarabs are supposed to be legit. They have rubber seals on the opening for the blade and civilian models do not.

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

If nobody has suggested it yet look for a Byrd Pelican. They have been discontinued for a while, but are great work knives. It won't have the super wiz bang steel your hunting, but 8c r seems to work pretty well for most of my uses.
They also modify easily in to a Wharnie if you need a pointier tip.

Re: Blerv's Car Chit-Chat

Yeah the Capris had the cool flared fenders and quarter panels. A lot of guys around my hometown would swap the nose off a mustang on to them just for the fenders and quarters. I used to live really close to 3 mustang shops. I bet all were within 20 miles roughly. MPS racing, MV performance, and Dug...

Re: Blerv's Car Chit-Chat

Evil, that's a cool fox body. I almost bought a 85 Mercury Capri bubble back. It was a 5.0 with 4 speed manual if I remember right.....with 80s striping down the doors and all! The thing that turned me off to it was it smelled like the bottom of a ashtray inside( instant headache for me).

Re: Blerv's Car Chit-Chat

Still have my 88 cutlass Supreme after all these years. Can't beat a nice G body in my opinion. My Cutlass sits in the garage mostly these days, because when I take it out for a drive I leave my brain at the house....;). I have responsibilities now that are more important than acting a total fool. C...
