Put yourself in a phonebooth. Now how much room do you have to execute slashing motions compared to stabbing motions? Both the Greeks, & later the Roman Legions, used shorter swords than their opponents. This was because their close quarter tactics dictated the use of short stabbing weapons. The...

Personally I think a Calypso Jr., with stainless bolsters & exotic handle material, looks more elegant than the Kopa.

I'm interested to see the resulting Spyderco Bushcraft knife. My current standby for camping is my old Falkniven F1. I really like it a lot but I just prefer carbon steel on my camping fixed blades. The carbon steel Spyderco Bushcraft could be a nice replacement.

SunTzu - I notice you mention bringing 2 folders. I would suggest otherwise as 2 folders are redundant and cause extra weight. The usual 3 edged tools I suggest are: Small (4" or so) Fixed Blade, SAK/Multi-Tool, and a Axe/Chopping Knife. For a small fixed blade you could carry a Spyderco Temper...

Guess I am one of the few Hikers that never really desired to thru-hike the A.T. Too much effort involved for a thru-hike, I prefer just to go out and enjoy pieces bit by bit. That said, how close are you and your girlfriend? I knew 2 guys that were good friends through college that decided to thru-...

I'm planning on getting a SE Tasman Salt soon. Only decision still not sure about is will it be Yellow or Black.

Could care less if it scratches easy. I'd rather have a pretty hard working knife over a pretty knife.

The Jot Singh Khalsa is one of my favorite Spydercos. I would love to see it updated with a VG-10/BG-42 steel Blade, Compression Lock or Back lock, and the handle length slightly increased.

I'd love for it to be made in BG-42. Currently I don't have any knives in that steel. Back-lock would be nice, but I would be fine with the Compression Lock. If it is a Sprint-Run, than some new type of handle material would be cool too.

Most of my time in the Army I had the following: Right LBV Strap - SE Remote Release. Belt Pouch - Multi-Tool (At 1st a Gerber, then a SOG) Right Pocket - SE Delica, later replaced with a Emerson CQC-7. CWO - offers some good advice too. I would wait till you get to your first duty station and find ...

Congrats on getting a design made by Spyderco, thats great in itself. I need to check one of these out. I had planned on getting a Navigator II as my small Spyderco, but it was difficult to open 1-handed for me. Curious if the Lava would be easier. Anyone able to post a side-by-side pic of a Lava an...

Nice Delicas. I really like the color of the Foliage Green Delica, just not a big fan of CE knives. Figure I will hold out for the SE British Racing Green Delica 4 (SE BRG D4? - cripes thats long too). Too bad you had to ruin the photo with one of those "Tupperware" pistols, and in .45 GAP...

Both companies make a good product. My personal preferance for folders lean toward Spyderco. That said, I prefer Benchmade's fixed blades. Cannot really go wrong with either company.

And I would think the Benchmade Skirmish would be a good counterpoint to the Spyderco Chinook.

Mine has only opened 1 cardboard box, 1 plastic shipping strap, and cut numerous slits in my microwave meals for lunch.

Just realized it probably is periwinkle. I have a pair of periwinkle scrubs that I remember thinking how the ZDP-189 Delica just disappeared in.

I love the curves and "WoW" factor on my Kris. The Kiwi is a great gentleman's knife. My Jot Singh Khalsa has exotic looks. My Dodo is a efficient cutter for it's size. My Persian has nice flowing lines. My ZDP-189 Calypso Jr. is a cutting machine. My Wegner Jr. is a nice compact EDC. My B...

The Mastiff - got to agree with his steel choices. I like my ZDP-189 knives, but I'd like to see some more use of BG-42. I think the knife industry was too quick to jump on the S30V bandwagon before fully exploring BG-42. Pretty content with the current Spydercos that are out, and the forthcoming mo...
