Re: Sharpening choils - Why?
I'm still wondering how people have trouble sharpening the base of the blade. Given you must overcome the fact that spyderco didn't do it (usually), once you have it right it's easy to maintain (IF you use stones and not sharpening rods).

Re: Custom scales pics.
Does anyone know of a company that makes fully metal scales for the pm2 (like flytanium) that allow for tip DOWN carry?

Re: What's your trick to remove a wire edge?
At the moment, this is the only thing I have as a diamond tool. Convenient little carry along thing, 600 grit. Capture.PNG That looks nice. I have the DMT 600 and 1200 sharpening rods and they're great. I want to get some ceramic rods as well, I love the little one on my worksharp pocket sharpener.

Re: Sharpening choils - Why?
Anagarika, that sharpening notch is much more practical than the typical round choils I've seen on blades. In the Bravo91 example, did he just angle the ricasso downward some? However tedious, that seems like a good way to eliminate the problem. I think the first video did exaggerate the issue of di...

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives
I'd love CPM 15V... I think my absolute favorite model for it would be the police though. But it (k390 also) seems like a strange choice of steel to be marketed towards police officers. Not all of them are really knife guys/afi's and may benefit from something tougher (and even softer) on a knife th...

Re: Sharpening choils - Why?
Vivi, you absolutely read my mind. I cannot stand sharpening choils, and I've seen videos of sharpeners adding them to customers' knives (relatively big ones), thinking how mad I would be if someone did that to my knife without asking. I have had materials get caught in the choil and not cut, and ge...

Re: What's your trick to remove a wire edge?
So I took the advice of intentionally dulling the blade and starting from scratch. Applied more Sharpie to the edge and went to work on the brown stones. Turns out with the Centofante 3, the show side of the blades edge was not 20 degrees. I had to ever so slightly angle that side of the edge towar...

What is your problem? This thread is riddled with you harassing people. Grow up. Don’t like people who don’t agree with your ideas? Too bad. It’s a discussion forum. Feel harassed? My response to your post isn’t harassment it is disagreement. Your response reminds me of spoiled college students who...

Re: Shipping of internal parts
I guess there should be some verification the knife in question is genuine before parts are sent. Absolutely. Imagine if an authentic spyderco blade could fit into a fake. People would try to swap authentic spyderco blades into counterfeit models to save money (and probably sell them online as &quo...

Re: Thinking about the Shaman
I own the Shaman and love it. The contoured scales are wonderful in hand. I found that going back to the Mili or PM2 after using the Shaman makes those models feel a little cheap/lazy. If $180 is a problem for some, how will the market respond to the price of a sprint? Is it going to cost $220-250....

Re: Poll: Who´d like to see a non-totally-rustproof, in return budgetfriendly Caribbean?
I can't really vote, because the other steels I'd like to see in a (preferably XL) Caribbean wouldn't necessarily be cheaper than LC200N. XHP would be nice imo.

Re: Shipping of internal parts
So you’d be designing and building knives to fit a future parts compatibility standard. Puts an unnecessary constraint on knife design freedom and pretty much says we don’t build creative knives we make standard parts. No. What is your problem? Re: What's the lowest edge retention steel you'd carry?
I'm changing my answer to:
I'll carry anything. I forgot I have a chopper in 1055 that I "carry" in the woods, and I'm not opposed to carrying a "beater" knife in certain situations, which could be made of Chinese mystery steel.

Re: Which Spyderco fits you?
Even though I don't own one (only held one), it could be the Shaman. I just wish it had a longer blade. That's part of the reason I'm DYING for the Native Chief. But amongst what I own, definitely the Ti/CF military. Pm2's are slightly more ergonomic, but there's just something about the feel of tha...

Re: Shipping of internal parts
If it was my company, I'd conduct my CQI efforts in such a fashion that the sheer number of different parts is reduced. I believe military's and pm2's share a lot of common parts now, for example. I liked when I saw the bigger hardware on the CQI Military. I would make similar changes, upgrading cer...
