Excellent review and pictures! With all three colors of G-10 together in those pictures, there seems to be a feeling of fall in the air. :)

You may want to try tightening the pivot pin slightly. When I got my Caly3 SE NIB, there was some slight horizonal play (maybe even a touch of vertical play). I also noticed how when the blade moved horizontally, I could see the liners moving a bit around the lock. So, I tightened, little by little,...

There are no :spyder: s in my vehicle... unless they're on me when I get in. :) In addition to the :spyder: s I have on me, for my EDVC (Every Day Vehicle Carry :) ), I have an Assist I Orange FRN and a four-D Cell MAG-LITE sitting on the counter near the front door. I prefer to stay with Spyderco's recommendations that come with the Sharpmaker's instructions... 30 degree angle on the back bevel and 40 degree angle on the cutting edge to ensure edge strength and durability.

Concur with Clovisc as well. What I've really enjoyed about the Spyderco forums is being able to do a search for information on particular knives to learn more about them, and not get a bunch of threads popping up that talk about (or hint at) buying this or selling that to wade through. Let's keep t...

The Military would be a good choice. Light weight, balances well and feels natural in the hand, and has a nice, slim profile in the pocket.

How about a Delica 4, perhaps in PE? At least for me, the Delica has always come across as a handy, practical, all-purpose knife... not too big, not too small.

Also, seems like I'd read somewhere (or heard) that the 400-series stainless steels are better suited, more workable, or more easily machined for large factory-production volume of some knives and tools.

From the Leatherman web site... http://www.leatherman.com/about-leatherman/faq.asp#6 They note that their tools are made of 400-series stainless steel, with carbon content and heat-treated hardness varying depending on the specific implement. One of their tool models, the Charge, comes with either t...

Recommend you consider either the Military or Manix as your choices from Golden, Colorado. Both are excellent designs that handle well. I carry the Leatherman Super Tool 200 in a leather sheath on my belt. I don't find it heavy at all, and although I haven't used all of the tools, the needlenose pliers, knife, file, can opener, awl, screwdrivers, and Tool Adaptor have proven quite useful. This is an upgrade to my original Super Tool...

Thank you all for your replies! :) What I described seemed to be the logical way to go about sharpening the Captain, but I figured I'd ask to see what others have done before giving it a try. Again, thanks! We should have all(most of) the sharpmaker questions organized into a sticky, along with a gu...

The Captain And The Sharpmaker

Morning, All, How do you properly sharpen the edges of the Captain on the Sharpmaker? I did a search of the forum and did not find any specific "step by step" sharpening procedures for the Captain while using the Sharpmaker. If I missed the thread, would someone please point me in the right directio...

Nice pictures! :) Thanks for sharing! The Military's my favorite :spyder: as well. I have it in both PE and SE, both in CPM-S30V. When I first held a Military, I, too, thought, "That's too big!" Not any more. The Military is just right. :) It (in rotation with the Manix PE) gets pocket time at home,...
