Hi mobbed. Welcome to this forum. I'm an ex-jarhead, myself. Ordinarily, I'm kind of anti SS handles, because of their basic slipperiness. But, since you did talk about having the knife engraved, I think you could have enough done to significantly increase your grip. At least theoretically. I'd try ...

Guess I'd have to join the Wegner crowd. But, I surely would stand on tiptoe to watch my Native FRN go out of sight.

Before I knew any better, more than a year before I found the forums, I bought a box of a dozen of those Ladybug knockoffs, mostly to put in Christmas stockings. I think I gave $10 for the 12 knives. Maybe that included shipping. I guess because they were so small, I never really paid them any atten...

When I posted in your other thread, the system seemed to "take" the image I thought I attached. Seeing that it hadn't, I just went back and attempted to attach it again. This time it told me the image was too large. I find that hard to believe -- it was about 4" long and 2" high....

AUS118 is a steel that is used by CRKT on only one, or a very few models of their knives. On paper, it looks like potentially a decent cutlery steel. It has: .90 to .95 carbon;17%-18% chromium; .50 manganese; 1.3%-1.5% molybdenum; .04 nickel; .50 silicone; .03 Sulpher;and, .10-.25 vanadium. Apparent...

I make the decision to purchase a knife because I: 1) Buy often based upon appearance. Either beauty, or the appearance of capability for some task I do/want to do. 2)Want value for my money. The price, comparative to other prices is usually important. I demand good service, so don't shop at a few p...

Hi dtp9. Welcome to the forum. I'm going to try to put in a single post here. From appearances on this thread, that may be difficult. I certainly would second the suggestion for the Native Ltwt. I really love mine. One potentially important thing tho -- I've read many threads where people attempted ...

Truth be told, VW, I think a lot of older, married guys wish they had a year or two with different girls to look back on and remember fondly. If you had a good time, and maybe learned something worthwhile about yourself or relationships, or the sort of person you really need to find, it ain't hardly...

Hopefully, there will be a pic of the Pro Grip attached. From your description, can't help but wonder if the ProVenator was ever made with black metal, instead of silver. Anybody know anything 'bout that? Well, brookecsf, does this look like your missing knife? Stare Edited by - The Stare on 8/22/20...

I tend to think the Native's blade is strong enough to go with the 30 degree bevel. It sure cuts better.

Always good to hear about a new recruit, particularly one of the gentler gender. I strongly believe that making them -- the sheeple -- us is what needs to happen in the next few years, if ridiculous, Draconian laws are not going to sprout up more and more frequently. I think that women who like kniv...

While I don't think that engraving would be likely to impart enough grip to enable one to be confident in water/underwater situations, I'm sure it would be possible to get a SS handle checkered. I read about that somewhere recently. Seems to me that the checkering was done by a woman who specializes...

A quick sideways segue; has Spyderco ever done a hard anodized finish on aluminum, like the CRKT M16 or the Outdoor Edge Magna? The finish on my M16 is just about bulletproof. 18 mos in the same pocket with change, and not a single mark.

I have to agree with Toolin. Liner locks that work are not weak. I seriously doubt that many people, if any, could hang onto a knife torqued so strongly it would bend the liner. It seems to me that the expense in liner locks comes primarily in the design/engineering area. Once it has been figured ou...

I'm sure KenN knows far more about advertising than I ever will. Just have a couple points to raise. Hi Mike -- Guess I do carry a lot, but am retired. Only wear jeans and cut-off jeans. Gives me lots to play with, and I don't have to do anything to go anywhere except put on my fanny pack. (That has a Camillus EDC in it.) <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> Stare
