I have the older version of that HF model, my first burned up after 2 years, this one's probably on year 5.

Re: Byrd for first timer?

I have to disagree, flicking, in my opinion isn't necessary and I don't particularly care about being cool when opening a knife. That said, a Byrd Crow would be a very nice knife for a responsible 12 year old. The Chicago is a nice little knife, but for the money I would go with the Crow. Definitel...

Re: Caly Jr 2

Big fan of the Caly Jr, have 4. Would welcome an update or even additional sprints, but honestly feel the Chaparral, especially the lw, is already an "heir to the throne" in many respects. While great, the Chap isn't in the Caly family tree IMO. No hump, so swedge, just a totally different feel for...

Re: Caly Jr 2

Things I would change: -switch to wire clip, tip up carry -slightly deepen the choil, think sage lightweight -jimping, think Dragonfly This and torx construction would be my two biggest changes. I’m guessing if this were to happen however it would have to be in liner less G10 as switching to a wire...

Re: How about a Lava light?

Just remember that the only way FRN "lightweight" versions are cheaper to produce is if you're making thousands of them. That works for the PM3, not so much for the Lava. A G-10 Sprint run allows small batches to be made without sinking too much into making molds. That's exactly why I suggested a l...

Caly Jr 2

I have had a love affair with the Caly Jr for over a decade. I got my first from a forumite who messaged me and offered a like new vg-10 PE. I loved most things about it, but rarely carried it because it would be hard to replace. Since then, I have nabbed a couple Micarta SE versions, a stainless PE...

Re: Dragonfly XL Proposal

Maybe the Caly Jr. could be the solution to a "Dragonfly XL?" In my opinion, it would fit that description perfect if it had a tip up reversible wire clip and Spyderco's current bidirectional texture. Other than that though, the blade profiles look very similar to me. Some people might even conside...

Re: Byrd for first timer?

[Flickability is the primary concern for a knife for an 11 year old? He get his first knife at age of 7 .He still have all 10 fingers:) You need to admit flicking is a coolest way to deploy blade ,my son love sound my pm2 makes ,his 12 birthday is coming up and it is definitely a option for present...

Re: Byrd for first timer?

Hey Byrd owners! Quick question, what byrd model is "flickable" and smaller than pm2? Is for my 11 years old.I was thinking about some spyderco for him but I really don't know how serious he is about it than cheaper option is Byrd.Ty Flickability is the primary concern for a knife for an 11 year old?

Re: Black S90V Delica with blue liners - KW exclusive

Honestly, it has colored my experience with REX 45 in such a way that I don't care to buy anymore of it. I loved the almost iridescence of the steel when I held it up to the sunlight. I loved the advertised potential. Now I don't buy anything without at least 7% chromium, like Cru-Wear (which my wi...

Re: Wireless earbuds

I have the Anker Soundcore Life P2 earbuds and have been pretty happy with them. I actually just got my wife a pair too. For about $50 they are great. With the charging case, you can listen for days without plugging them in.

This is why I love the Ti Squeak.

We hear less about the frn UKPK’s doing this. Does Maniago use a lesser frn, I wonder?
I think its more a case of over tightening and too much threadlocker.

Re: Urban LW pivot screw

Mine's the same. Over tightened pivot, trying to loosen it I'm pretty sure the hole rounded out and it just spins.

Re: Buy a blurple PM2 now, or wait for the 2020 releases?

I'm also unsure what a "better value version" means. That's about the normal street price for a knife that's in stock at most vendors. Are you talking about a different steel?

Re: How about a Lava light?

I didn't buy a Spyderco between my Delica I got in 1997 and the Lava. The Lava inspired a three year binge on thousands of dollars of Spydercos until I decided that I needed to pay for my habit by designing my own. Lavas are dangerous, and make me think of KaliGMan. If you ask me, it has a strong f...

How about a Lava light?

What do you think about seeing the CLB Lava revisited as a lightweight? Perhaps linerless g-10 and wire clip? It's a great little design that deserves another go IMO.

Re: Paramilitary 2 Lightweight?

I'd try one most likely. If the wire clip is deep carry that might give me hesitation, though. The pm2 barely fits in a few of my dinky pockets as it is. I get that I'm not the average user, though. Yeah, I also like a little exposed handle above the pocket to grab onto. I do get wanting to be subt...
