How's the MBS26 ? I passed on one a few weeks back, didn't know about the steel.
Seems pretty corrosion resistant, edge holding is good, fast and easy to sharpen, the thin blade is flexible and slices very well. Afaik it is pretty close to VG-10 performance wise.

Re: The CATCHERMAN: The TIME HAS COME

We've done a few Catcherman sprints over the years as a result of requests from forum(s), and none have sold well. sal I'm the happy owner of the MBS-26 FF one with CE so I'm good. Most users out there don't see the advantage of steel and design and with the loads of cheap (and actually pretty dece...

Re: Do most of us need larger knives?

The Military weighs little more than many small knives, has a great blade with a thin tip and carries very well. I very rarely think "I wish I brought a smaller knife" unless it's in a setting where a 4" blade brings unwanted attention.. I usually carry a C22 or Techno when doing office work and som...

C22 micarta (or CF or G10) scales and any good steel (HAP40?)

Catcherman in LC200N FF and thin like the MBS-26 one with orange scales (CE or PE blade)

Slightly slimmer Stretch with a Walker Liner lock, contoured CF scales and nested liners... Deep carry clip :D

The blasted titanium on the SpydieChef isn't slippery even when covered in blood etc. (used it for some animal dissections at work today)

Re: What are your thoughts on Spyderco's Peel-ply Carbon Fiber?

It doesn't look flashy, but it is light, stiff and has great grip so on a Military etc. it is great. On dressier models it looks out of place and matte slightly sculpted CF is preferable. I'm referring to the full CF peel-Ply not the laminate here. The laminate is ok, but I prefer both CF and G10 to...

Re: The most reliable locking mechanism Spyderco uses?

I'm fond of a well made liner lock. Never had any issues with those on my Spydies (mostly Millies). Easy to get dirt etc out of them which I sometimes have trouble with on my back locks (mostly very dirty Salts). The main reason is ease of use and muscle memory making it fast and safe to unlock and ...

about 2-3mm. The Millie is 4, but tapers pretty well. Can't imagine me breaking it even if it was 3mm

Re: Would you really want LC200N in a non-Salt knife?

I'd like a Military with a LC200N blade since I've had quite a bit of corrosion on S30V while sailing. No issues with the hardware, but ideally that would be adjusted to have better corrosion resistance too so I could treat it almost as badly as I do my Salts :D Are you sure its not a reaction betw...

Re: It just takes the edge right off.

When cutting straps, especially when there's a chance of metal bands, why not just use some wire cutters? Seems like a better tool for the job and it's not hard to carry a small pair of them in your pocket. Or not... I mean, it has kind of been funny reading all your posts with your newfound knife ...

Re: Figured out why I prefer g10 scales

Pocket knives absolutely now have a niche as a kind of man-jewelry. That can't be denied. Lots of people make the claim of "stronger/lighter" for carbon fiber and titanium, but in reality it's only to justify their purchase just as I'm sure a lady has similar justifications for buying the latest $5...

Re: Figured out why I prefer g10 scales

Just like G10 carbon fiber can be made either slick or grippy. It is stiffer and lighter than G10 which is an advantage in some cases.
