Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

Back in the day of turbojet ( not turbofan) powered 707's and DC 8's the aircraft would end up at 43k to 45k as the fuel burned off and the plane got lighter on long flights. Up at that height the earth sure looks curved to me. BTW, the only guy I ever knew that was in the flat earth society was a s...

I don't think he should be in jail for attempted murder but I agree he should sit out a year to a year and a half with the loss of income plus fines. Pouncey was fine until he started kicking Garrett when he was down. He deserves the suspension just for that. Most players know not to try to kill or ...

Re: K390 Hawkbill Dragonfly?

Sliding the blade under a zip tie and then torquing the edge up. That sort of lateral stress can be catastrophic for an edge, especially at low edge angles. Yes, absolutely. I don't think you'd have to be overly concerned about a hawkbill in k390 breaking. As far as high carbide volume steels go, k...

Re: Randall 1-7 - The process begins.

That's a good looking knife! The 1-7 has spawned more than a few copies and inspired many others. That is the one that started my liking large fixed blade utility/fighting knives but to this day I have never had the original. I am a big fan of O1 and do like forged knives. I'm not surprised that Jim...

Re: Let's discuss cheaper base models

I don't have much use for knives in steels that I already have enough of. VG 10 is one example. I'm not buying the new police FRN model because it's in VG10. If it was FRN and K390 I'd be buying two.

Yes, I agree with you. They would have looked better too. :) Now the Rescue knives I got as soon as I looked at them. I wanted one and bought one as soon as I could. Instant classic!

Re: Your favorite sprint/exclusive released after join-date PLUS BONUS QUESTION

The one I was most excited about was the Caly jr. in laminated ZDP. It was an AFI special that sold online for right around $60 so many/most became instant users not expensive safe queens. They sold out quickly which set the standard for sprint warfare. It also brought out the good in others. One gu...

Re: Old Requests Being Made Again: C-111 in Orange Please??

I didn't miss your point. The changes you talk about would still limit it to the same market as it had before. That isn't saying it's a bad design or a poor knife it just bumps up against the market limits of SE knives even with the end being PE. It is also very unconventional looking. Looks do mean...

Re: Old Requests Being Made Again: C-111 in Orange Please??

It has got to be tough making decisions on bringing back models that did really poorly the first time around. Making it more desirable and less expensive for the buyer are beginnings but I'm not sure changing colors or even giving it H1 would be enough for this one. This one wasn't even big with the...

I can see you guys make decisions based on different facts that I am not having to deal with here. This isn't an I'm right and you are wrong situation for either of us and if I'm being honest and I was in your shoes the math would probably add up differently. I also see you guys as being honest and ...

Re: Your "return ethics"?

I also don't return unless it is not as advertised. If there were to be a flaw it would go to Spyderco if for no other reason than to make sure it isn't going to be resold as is with flaws to someone else. If seriously flawed Spyderco will want to know about it for pretty obvious reasons.

Re: K390 & Corrosion

For me, K390 is worth the small amount of care I give it in comparison to my baseline standard VG 10 Endura. It really is a wonderful performing steel. I usually expect noticeable trade offs with steels that wear resistant but this steel really isn't chippy or touchy on the stones and sharpens very ...

Re: The big Unplug

A small older trailer or motorhome is definitely something I thought of, after all of this, and am considering. I know a small generator, at least for the refrigerator, and some decent solar panels, are mandatory now. I figure I have just under a year to get ready for next time. I read about one we...

I decided to put some Liquid Glass on the blade. None went on the pivot area. I should have about Five coats on before the end of the day.
I don't think we have heard from anyone else regarding Liquid Glass. Please don't forget to let us know what you think after having used it for a while.

Re: K390 & Corrosion

I do not force patinas and I keep mine rust free. When I get new knives in non stainless I clean them, apply tuff glide and let dry for a day. I wipe everything off then wax the blade with a paste wax. I use Renaissance wax in particular. This pretty much keeps the blade oxygen free so rust will not...
