Re: Kershaw Black Horse II

They are well made knives but have Aus 6 so for me they needed resharpening pretty often. It is a good steel and has decent corrosion resistance and toughness but by the time I had one I was used to Spyderco's VG 10 so I really noticed the lesser wear resistance. It seemed to have less wear than the...

Re: New Madrid Seismic Zone?

Yep. All they can do is watch the seismometers to see if they can detect movement of magma heading up. It's pretty new stuff so it's possible they might not see what they think they are seeing and learn something too late. There are other supervolcanos. IIRC, mono lake in CA has one ? Naples in Ital...

Re: Wal Mart Ammo

Looks like MagSafe and Glaser started a "thing" with their light weight, high speed, shot filled, fragmental rounds. The guy that started Magsafe was Joe Zambone. He was a mad scientist type experimenting with all sorts of different ammo types and configurations before he started the epoxy & shot f...

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

In nuclear winter there is VERY little sunlight and everything just dies off and it's very cold. A Wasteland basically. With lots of areas off limits from radiation which will last longer than the airborne particles blocking out the sun. In other words even after the sun comes back out us mammals c...

Underwood and Buffalo Bore. It's expensive stuff but it is high quality and high performing stuff.

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

For years after the impact that killed the dinosaurs they found only mold spores in the record and no pollen. That means no plant growth and everything on the surface was decaying. There would have been very little sunlight and very cold weather.

Re: New Madrid Seismic Zone?

Yellowstone is a powder keg that could blow any time I'm sure. Not sure if it would be worse than another major shake up of the New Madrid Zone or not but it would be bad for sure. Yellowstone would be a thousand times worse than any conceivable New Madrid event. Yellowstone not only has direct eff...

Re: Sal and Co. DIY edgeless blanks?

I didn’t post an expectation of price so I don’t know how you would know what I think is reasonable.
My guess is they would cost as much as a fully finished knife if they are done in relatively small batches.

Re: Super Hard (70 Rc) High Speed Steels – Maxamet, Rex 121, and More Explained

For steel history I have had to work really hard. Getting articles that are not available digitally and obviously are not searchable. When patents are available that makes it easier but even finding those is more challenging than I expected. It took me several months to find the patent for D2, for ...

Re: DIY edgeless blanks...

Pretty limited market for these which would also have the effect of taking production time and resources which are already limited. It would also likely be more expensive than you are thinking it would be.

Re: Super Hard (70 Rc) High Speed Steels – Maxamet, Rex 121, and More Explained

Great read Larrin, thanks! This article covered some things I have tried to look up over the years. It's easy to get info on the more well known steels but the old ones that are no longer used have been largely forgotten. You must have a better library than I do. :)

Re: Any News on the new XFL League??

But I still think that Mr. Kaepernick could still probably do well and salvage some of his career in the upcoming XFL. Truly it's really his only option at this point. After he literally taunted and insulted the hierarchy of the NFL I don't see how on earth he could possibly get any NFL team intere...

Re: Regrinding the Nirvana?

There has to be something corrosive down in the pores that hasn't come off yet. It needs a good detergent soap and hot water wash followed by drying then sealing the air away by a good wax like Rennisance wax. I've seen old rifles that have shot corrosive ammo in them keep on rusting despite regular...

Re: I almost missed out - K390 PM2

:)

Enjoy your knife Tom. The more I use K390 the more I like it. It has taken me time to warm up to it mostly because I wasn't doing enough to separate it from some of the other steels which are already pretty good. It does everything I like in a steel.

Re: NFL Season: 2019-2020

I watched a Detroit Lions game the other day looking to see where the problems are at. They began the year playing tough with the defense underachieving. Now they have 2 or 3 guys playing hard and the remainder going through the motion. I saw times where veteran players out of position. 3 nose tackl...

But then with knife in hand I look at the Delica and think to myself there is no Knife of its size better than this. This is describing me with the Endura. Re: NFL Season: 2019-2020

Also, anyone else see the replay that shows Maurkice Pounceys kick getting blocked and not even contacting Myles Garret? He basically got suspended three games for punching Garretts helmet and face mask and then kicking the back of someone else's leg. Saw that. It changes nothing IMO. If a player t...
